The next generation consoles for Xbox and PlayStation are right around the corner, and Microsoft fans are eager to get their hands on the Xbox Series X. The Xbox Series X release date is November 10 – just two days before the PS5 launches – and the competition between the two is reaching a head.
In the leadup to both console launches, teardown videos for each console are being released by media outlets and content creators who got the consoles early. Interestingly, it seems that the Xbox Series X has an incredibly hidden Halo Easter Egg within the internals of the console.
Teardown videos for the Xbox Series X actually debuted far earlier than the videos now surfacing on the PS5. In fact, creators like the folks at Digital Foundry put out an Xbox Series X video back in March, showcasing the entire Xbox Series X spec list and breakdown. However, one subtle physical detail on one of the Xbox Series X’s hardware components went largely unnoticed. Thanks to a recent Brazilian content creator, one small detail about the Xbox Series X’s fan has started to gain some attention.
The video comes by way of content creator Detonando Gueek on YouTube. His video is a normal teardown video of the Xbox Series X, though one part of it stands out in particular. At around eight minutes into the video, he pulls out the console’s fan to reveal a small, embossed icon of Master Chief’s helmet from the Halo series. Halo is one of Microsoft’s flagship series so it’s fitting that Master Chief is a part of the very system itself.
Unfortunately, fans who are looking forward to Halo Infinite on the Xbox Series X are going to have to wait a bit longer than they initially thought. Still, there are plenty of amazing games coming to the console, seeing as the Xbox Series X launch lineup boasts an impressive 30 games. While some of those games are cross-generation or not Xbox exclusive titles, 30 games to choose from at launch still offers a nice selection for every type of player.
Regardless, the Xbox Series X’s launch is right around the corner. Interested fans may want to look out for Microsoft’s Xbox Series X launch livestream on November 10, where the company will showcase behind the scenes looks at game development among other things. Of course, once fans get their hands on their own Xbox Series X consoles, they can see the Master Chief Easter Egg for themselves (if they’re willing to break open their console, that is). While it’s a slight disappointment Halo Infinite won’t be a launch title for the Xbox Series X, at least the Chief will be with the console in some way.
The Xbox Series X will release on November 10th.
