Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has released a sneak peek into the upcoming title’s various campaign locales. The game is set at the height of the Cold War, which allows fans to visit a variety of settings, some of which have been shown off in new screenshots. With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s campaign one of the highlights of the game, the small taste may spark fans’ imaginations for upcoming missions.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is planned to act as a direct sequel to the original Call of Duty: Black Ops campaign. Set 13 years after the first in the subseries, the game will showcase various locations from around the world, and bring back some iconic Black Ops characters.
The screenshots shared give fans a look into three of the upcoming Campaign Missions in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Keep in mind that there are potential light spoilers below, so fans looking to avoid any story details should focus on the images rather than the text descriptions.
The first screenshot takes players to Amsterdam, two weeks after New Year’s Day in 1981. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s CIA operators have found themselves in the bar in hopes of meeting with a source. This is more of a narrative section that leads to an ongoing hostage crisis.
This mission introduces players to Woods, Mason, and Adler. After several targets are freed, one final hostage is located at Trabzon Airfield, though the segment turns into a rooftop chase with multiple shootouts across the city, setting it up as one of the earliest major moments in the game’s campaign.
This mission serves as a Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War memory during the Vietnam War. Players will get to relive the first encounter with Perseus during the second mission of the campaign through a flashback encounter, and uncover clues to track down Perseus.
The team gets to slowly realize the truth of the depths of Perseus’ influence. The level focuses heavily on the Vietnam War setting, with helicopters, jungle fights, and several rice paddies to battle across.
In Desperate Measures, players will hunt for Perseus behind the Iron Curtain. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players must infiltrate KGB headquarters in a last-ditch effort to gather new information on the enemy spy. Players will get to use the latest of 1980s technology along with prototype machines, as players act as Soviet double agents reporting for work at the KGB headquarters.
This level gives a look into the world of KGB operations. Players will obtain information by talking to their fellow agents, but it must be done carefully. If their cover is blown, players will have to fight their way out of the heart of Soviet espionage operations.
While the screenshots are only from three missions, the developers has given a decent look at the campaign and the operations players will be involved in.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on November 13th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
