PS5 DualSense Controller Appears to Feature Customizable Plate

Sony’s upcoming PS5 console has already been shown to include a number of new features to separate current systems with Next-Gen, with the new DualSense controller being one of the most promising so far. However, as more hands-on previews continue to show off the DualSense’s many features, the select few getting their hands on some early controllers are still continuing to find new aspects of the peripheral.

Coming from YouTuber John Glasscock, a new video shows a number of new features that some fans might not be aware are available with the DualSense. One of these features in particular points at a level of customization on the PS5 system and its accompanying controller that hadn’t previously been available on older consoles.

Shown in the new video, it would seem that the DualSense controllers have a removable panel at the bottom that could possibly open up options for customization. Considering that players may also have an option for selecting a black DualSense controller as well as the standard white one, it appears that Sony might be jumping into Next-Gen with more customization options than prior systems. There’s still no indication of whether or not there will be replacement panels sold when the controllers launch in order to add colors or designs for a little personal flavor.

The rest of the video goes a long way to show off more features coming to the PS5’s new controller, like the ability to turn off the DualSense’s haptic feedback and the built in microphone. Additionally, the joysticks are the same size as the DualShock 4, meaning that customizable grip pads that were available on the previous system will also be available on the Next-Gen console as well. Some of what is shown has either already been discovered by content creators or shown off by Sony, but the breakdown does still focus on some interesting aspects of the controller.

Looking at everything that Sony has already revealed about the PS5, it’s clear that the DualSense’s features are easily some of the most important selling points of the system. As even launch titles for the Next-Gen consoles will also release on PC, it’s a combination of the system’s built in SSD and its controller features that will be driving sales for the PS5. So, adding a level of customization to this controller is likely to be a powerful driving force to make sure that players feel more connected and justified for jumping on the new console as soon as possible.
