Among Us Update Addresses Hacking Situation | Game Rant

Among Us fans have been asking for assistance against hackers and cheaters for a while now, and InnerSloth has finally managed to provide some sort of aid. The developers recently made live a new Among Us update, and according to the notes attached to it, the patch addresses the ongoing hacker problem that Among Us picked up while climbing the ranks of popularity. It doesn’t erase all of the cheats that are currently available for the game, but it does claim to address a bunch of them.

Along with server updates to address the hackers running around Among Us‘ public lobbies, the patch also introduces a host of other new changes to the game, mostly quality of life improvements. Players now have the option to remove the Taskbar completely using the game’s invisibility mode, and sabotaging comms on MIRA will wipe the security logs clean, which should give Imposters more peace of mind about venting around the map to kill people.

However, it’s worth noting that InnerSloth somewhat rushed out this patch so that it could try and get the cheater situation under control as soon as possible, and in doing so, it spawned some new Among Us bugs and glitches that players will need to watch out for. Updates to address these bugs will come out soon enough, but the process will be slower than the anti-cheat updates, so players will have to deal with them a little longer.

Finally, the patch notes also discuss some of the future plans InnerSloth has for Among Us. The developers hope to add player accounts to the game by December. They’ll be “barebones” at first, so they won’t include friend-lists, but they will allow players to report accounts that are toxic or cheating. It also plans to add a new Among Us map that will be bigger than Polus and Henry Stickman-themed. It also plans to localize and translate the game into more languages.

It’s a shame that cheaters and hackers end up ruining an otherwise fun experience for most people, so hopefully, this update will quell the problem. Beyond that, the promise of map updates and additions is exciting. Polus is possibly the most popular map among the Among Us community, and Mira is likely the least. So the idea that Mira is being adjusted and that a new map as big as Polus is coming soon should leave fans with something to look forward to.
