Among Us Update Roadmap Confirms New Map, Account System, and More

The incredibly sharp spike in popularity for Among Us has kept the small development team at InnerSloth busy, with a rise in cheaters due to the high player count requiring much of the team’s attention. Among Us will still be seeing some new content and quality of life updates, however, as a recent post from InnerSloth shares a roadmap detailing the next several weeks of additions.

The roadmap accompanies the latest Among Us update, which saw a major focus on stopping cheaters from succeeding in the entertaining indie game. The update also added new features like anonymous voting and MIRA camera sabotage, allowing imposters to better cover their tracks whenever a meeting is called. The additions will not be stopping there, however, as the roadmap attached to the post outlines new features coming to the game before the year’s end.

One of the main features announced to come to Among Us is an accounts system, which is a major quality of life change that should please Among Us fans like rapper Big Sean. Accounts will “be a bit bare-bones at first” according to InnerSloth, but “friendslists will also come at a later date” to help flesh out the system. The primary goal of the system is to allow players to report toxic accounts and point hackers out to the InnerSloth team, and the developers are aiming to add the feature by December.

Perhaps the most exciting information in the roadmap has to do with a brand new map for Among Us themed around the Henry Stickmin games. While a custom map maker for Among Us may soon allow fans to create their own stages to play on, this official map will that is coming from the developers is supposedly “looking bigger than Polus” and will “contain plenty of new tasks” for players to complete while avoiding the imposter. Best of all, the new Henry Stickmin map will be “free to all players” whenever it arrives.

Aside from that, the Among Us team has promised more localization and additional translation options for fans of the game. More colorblind support beyond the foundation laid with this new update will be added in the future as well, with the team ensuring that more updates will be coming to the game in the future. With this roadmap not being “the full extent” of InnerSloth’s plans and “lots of things” still coming, it seems like the studio is determined to keep Among Us as one of the best imposter games available.

With Among Us 2 being cancelled so that the team could add all the content onto the original game, this roadmap is likely just the beginning for the hit indie title. If more updates like the ones mentioned in the roadmap do indeed happen, Among Us could remain on top for a long time to come.

Among Us is available now on Mobile and PC.
