Destiny 2 Players Want a Permanent Memorial to Cayde-6 Added to the Game

While the original Destiny initially struggled with delivering its story to players, one of the standout characters that most gravitated towards was the Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6. Voiced by veteran actor Nathan Fillion, Cayde gave the game personality and humor with his wild antics and anecdotes. To the surprise of many, Cayde’s time in this franchise came to an end much sooner than many thought as the well received Forsaken expansion for Destiny 2 saw the Hunter struck down by the game’s villain and his Barons.

Following the reveal and the eventual release of the expansion, players discovered an in-game quest paying additional tribute to the fan favorite character. The mini-quest wasn’t very involved and ultimately led players to the Ramen Stand in the Tower, one of Cayde’s favorite spots. While there, an expired coupon for Spicy Ramen could be obtained, later confirmed by Destiny 2 community manager DMG04 to be nothing more than a special tribute.

As fun as that was for many, Bungie announced the tough decision to remove the item on November 10 along with a long list of other content to be put into the Destiny Content Vault alongside the Beyond Light expansion. The news disappointed a portion of fans and even surprised the original creator of the Spicy Ramen Coupon, who went on to mention a few behind the scenes secrets about it. With the coupon finally being removed, fans have begun to request other ways to keep the Hunter Vanguard’s special ramen memory alive in Destiny 2 going forward.

The Destiny 2 subReddit has been pretty active with suggestions, not for Cayde but for the ramen coupon itself. One in particular has gained a lot of traction so far involving creating an emblem to commemorate how long players held on to the useless coupon for. Another user called Artdeck on Twitter went ahead and created a 3D model of a custom made seal called “His Last Spicy Ramen” which manages to capture a similar look and feel to Bungie’s actual in-game seals players can earn. Better yet, Artdeck is making the design free to everyone with a 3D printer so they’re able to create their own.

To this point, Bungie has yet to comment on the fan feedback on the expired coupon, though the studio has gotten a reputation lately for responding to fans no matter how small the request may seem such as slightly increasing the size of the Titan Guardian Games Trophy near Commander Zavala. At the very least, Bungie could use the opportunity to pay tribute to Cayde-6 at the same time, perhaps adding a statue with the ticket in his hand.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and the Beyond Light expansion will release November 10. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are currently in development.
