The Bob’s Burgers Movie is Still Happening | Game Rant

It seems that it can’t be said enough: this was a bad year to be a movie. For reasons that readers are likely very well aware of by now, the theater industry has been devastated financially and basically nothing has seen a proper silver screen showcase in the United States since March of 2020. One of the lesser known casualties of this year’s box office purge was a Bob’s Burgers short film titled My Butt Has a Fever.

The short film would have seen the Belcher kids singing a song of the same name in the show’s usual comedic stylings, but once the pandemic hit, Disney had nowhere to release the project. While the movie was hoping to hit theaters on July 17th of this year, that obviously couldn’t happen. Director and showrunner Loren Bouchard also makes it clear that it won’t be coming to streaming anytime soon: “We talked about [streaming] as it pertains to the movie and we decided we really want the movie to come out in theaters because Bob’s is already on TV.”

That means that the film probably won’t be released officially until the pandemic has cleared up enough to re-open theaters. In the meantime though, Bouchard says that working on both the show and the film has been a source of a lot of inspiration: “One kind of waters the other. There’s a scenario where every little thing that drips off of the Bob’s Burgers movie ends up in the show.” So at the very least the work on the movie has still reaped rewards for the ongoing show, and the benefits are still being felt even if the actual project can’t be released.

Regardless of the delays, production is still plugging away on both the show and the film. Not only that, Bouchard is also working on two other shows, Central Park, which recently released its first season, and The Great North, which will be premiering on FOX next year. So it seems no matter what, audiences will be getting quite a bit more content from the brains behind Bob’s Burgers, even if they have to wait for the show’s theatrical debut.
