Set to debut alongside the PlayStation 5 when it officially launches on November 12, Sackboy: A Big Adventure looks to be one of the major next-generation experiences set to showcase the console’s power. It’ll see LittleBigPlanet‘s adorable knitted protagonist Sackboy return for a new adventure, trading out Media Molecule’s 2D platforming for Sumo Digital’s new 3D take on the license.
Those interested in grabbing Sackboy: A Big Adventure‘s digital deluxe or special edition will get a number of fun additions to the core experience, including an art book and a soundtrack. However, they’ll also gain access to four fun nods to PlayStation’s past, as in-game costumes from some of the PS4’s biggest games will be included in both editions.
Shown off through a series of tweets posted by each of the respective games’ developers, Ghost of Tsushima’s Jin Sakai, Detroit: Become Human’s Connor, Death Stranding’s Sam Porter Bridges, and Days Gone’s Deacon St John will all get costumes in Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The Jin Sakai costume centers around the character’s Ghost outfit, sporting his black headband, demon mask, stealth-focused armor, cape, and katana. His highlight on the Ghost of Tsushima Twitter page showcases an animation too, with Jin pulling his Katana out and slashing with it, before cleaning the blade, shaking it violently, and then re-sheathing it.
The Connor outfit, on the other hand, features the character’s hairstyle as well as his grey and blue cyberlife suit. The animation used to depict him mimics the coin trick he employs frequently throughout Detroit: Become Human, seeing the small Sackboy avatar playing with the coin before comically dropping it.
The Sam Porter Bridges costume includes the character’s man-bun, his blue traveling outfit, a metallic package attached to his back, the Ordarlek scanner on his shoulder, and, of course, the iconic BB pod strapped to his chest. His animation sees him rocking his BB back and forth much like Death Stranding players do when waking the baby up in the game.
Finally, the Deacon St John outfit features the Days Gone protagonists backwards cap, long hair, and overgrown beard, as well as his biker jacket, jeans, and the walkie talkie he uses to keep in contact with the people of Oregon. His animation sees him riding an invisible motorcycle before crashing and falling off. All four characters will be included in the game’s digital deluxe or special editions, so those interested in exploring Sackboy: A Big Adventure’s levels as some of their favorite PlayStation characters will need to fork out a little extra.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 12, 2020.
