With the release of the next generation of consoles almost here, it looks like the Xbox Series X has one more special announcement. 2K United Kingdom is partnering with XboxPope to create a very special edition of the Xbox Series X. This custom console features the most well-known character in the Borderlands universe: CL4P-TP.
This new Xbox giveaway comes right at the end of the Taco Bell Xbox Sweepstakes. Gamers who didn’t find a console in their soda can try for this special one instead. The official giveaway starts November 9, and the rules and details will likely be announced closer to that date. 2K specifies that there is only one of this Claptrap Xbox, so it truly is something special to win.
CL4P-TP–or Claptrap, as he is known to his friends–has been featured in every Borderlands game in some form or another. In Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2, he starts the player on their journey by providing the tutorial. Claptrap is a playable class in the Pre-Sequel and truly embodies the mayhem that Borderlands is all about. Although he is not a playable class in Borderlands 3, Claptrap is still there to provide terrible jokes and wholesome quests.
This release comes at a great time for Borderlands 3. With the recent announcement of a second Season Pass for Borderlands 3, as well as new skill trees for all four of the playable characters, it seems like the game is as big as ever right now. Many players that gave up on the farming and looting are now coming back to rejoin their fellow vault hunters. While Claptrap is one of the more divisive characters—being as loved by many as he is hated by others—he is a perfect ambassador for the game’s resurgence.
The console itself, which features Claptrap limbless posing in his box form, is not the strangest console gamers have seen. There is a solid gold PlayStation 5 out there that many fans have already purchased. The Taco Bell sweepstakes handed out platinum Xbox consoles, continuing the precious metal trend. This is truly the other end of the spectrum, going from simple and elegant to bright and colorful.
Whether gamers want to try their hand at winning this Claptrap Xbox or not, the anticipation is in the air now that November is here. The Xbox Series X releases in only a few days on November 10. Between the X and S editions, the platinum Taco Bell edition, and now this Claptrap version, it seems that there is an Xbox out there for everyone.
