Nostalgic Xbox Series X Walmart Ad Goes Viral | Game Rant

Xbox players around the world are hotly anticipating the release of the Xbox Series X this coming Tuesday. As more positive Xbox Series X reviews are released from various outlets, it seems that this anticipation continues to grow exponentially. Now it seems that Walmart is try to do its part by tugging at the heartstrings of nostalgic Xbox fans in a new ad.

The ad from Xbox and Walmart depicts a young man and his journey with all of the Xbox consoles. This begins with him as a boy, picking up his original Xbox from Walmart. A quick transition occurs and the young boy has become an adult with a baby strapped to his chest as he purchases an Xbox 360. In the next shot, the baby has grown into a young girl who seems to share an affinity for Xbox that her father has, as they rush to purchase an Xbox One. And in the last shot, the two are seen sitting down at a TV to begin playing their new Xbox Series X.

While this ad may seem simple, it seems to have made quite an impression on gaming fans across social media. Players watching the progression from adolescence into adulthood with the family of Xbox consoles have taken to Twitter to share how nostalgic this ad made them feel. Some players that were especially touched by the commercial even stated that it made them tear up or cry.

The Walmart commercial seems to be great for alluding to one of the Xbox Series X’s greatest strengths, as well. Microsoft has taken great pride in the fact that players will be able to play a multitude of games from all previous generations of Xbox on the Series X. In fact, it seems that Microsoft has put many hours into ensuring that players can not only play games from Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games on the Series X, but that the games themselves have been optimized for stellar performance on the system as well.

While its still too early to tell if this ad will cause players to invest in the new generation of Xbox consoles, players might be surprised to find that early comparisons between the Xbox Series X and PS5 seem to show that the former is faster. GameSpot recently performed a comparison between the Series X and PS5’s load times on third party titles and found that the new Xbox was overall faster on startup time. And while this alone may not convince players to switch from PlayStation to Xbox, it seems that Microsoft is content with every advantage it can get.

The Xbox Series X is set to launch on November 10, 2020.
