Destiny 2 will forever change with the launch of Beyond Light on November 10. Players will experience Darkness powers for the first time ever in the form of Stasis, but also say goodbye to many aspects of the game that they may have become used to. The list is extensive, and there are only a few short days to go, so here are some of the high priority items that fans may want to complete before it’s too late.
This culling of content was hinted at by Luke Smith many months ago and Destiny 2 players were feeling the game bloat as well. This past summer, Bungie officially announced the Destiny Content Vault, a place where underused or outdated content (including the entirety of Destiny 1) are stored so that they don’t take up space in the live game. This also gives the team a chance to rework these isolated pieces of content, so they may one day return in a refurbished state, which includes zones, activities, quests, loot, and more.
Perhaps the highlight of this exodus is Raids. These pinnacle excursions are some of the more memorable parts of Destiny and contain some of the best loot. Between now and Beyond Light, players can run Raids an infinite number of times and still be eligible for rewards. This is great for checking off some of the coveted gear that the soon-to-be-vaulted Raids contain. These Raids are Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, Scourge of the Past, and Crown of Sorrow.
Io, Mercury, Titan, and Mars are soon to be overrun by Darkness and they may never be recovered again. If players haven’t explored these otherworldly locations or participated in their unique activities, such as Escalation Protocol on Mars, The Whisper mission on Io, or the Niobe Labs, they have precious little time left. Just as importantly, each of these destinations are part of the Year 1 story campaigns, which will be unavailable to be experienced during Beyond Light. Similarly, the Exodus questline available this season is a great farewell to the four destinations that are getting removed. Dedicated players might want to check out the original Cosmodrome starting mission which will also be replaced with a new questline this November.
Pinnacle weapons aren’t getting removed all together, but every pinnacle weapon quest released until now will be deprecated. Their rewards will be available from the Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive, a new kiosk that will offer legacy pinnacle weapons and exotics, but at a price that reflects the challenge of their original acquisition methods. If fans want to earn these valuable guns through their authentic means, they should do so now. Or, if they don’t have the time to spare, make sure to gather enough resources to buy them ASAP. As a bonus, a short but sweet pursuit to look out for is the Allegiance quest. It doesn’t offer exclusive rewards, but it is the first quest to offer a story choice in the vain of classic RPGs and is possibly worth experiencing for that fact alone.
Seals and their associated titles are all the rage at the moment. They’re exhaustive, time intensive, but also very prestigious. If fans are only missing a few Triumphs from completing a seal from the list below, they should do so quickly because these seals will be impossible to unlock in a few days. Most importantly, they should equip the title for it to be registered on their account, otherwise, Bungie will not recognize the acquisition of said title and will make it unavailable for the player. The titles becoming legacy are:
- Shadow
- Reckoner
- Blacksmith
- Wayfarer
- Chronicler
- Undying
- Savior
- Almighty
- Forerunner
- MMXX
With that said, every player should know that Destiny servers will undergo a lengthy maintenance on November 9 which will last until the expansion launches November 10. For more information on when exactly the game will be unable to be played, fans should visit the Bungie Help article on downtime.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases November 10, 2020 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
