Ada Wong is one of the Resident Evil series’ many recurring characters. Despite her many appearances, almost everything about her past and personal life is a mystery.
The anti-hero often works with antagonists in the series, but frequently pops up at just the right time to help Leon Kennedy. Ada’s questionable actions don’t stop her from being a fan-favorite character of the series. Her popularity led to the character appearing in the movie Resident Evil: Retribution, where she was portrayed by Chinese actress Li Bingbing. One of the reasons for Ada’s popularity is that she features in some of the best moments in the series. If Ada Wong appears in a cutscene, you know something crazy is about to happen.
10 Unorthodox Weaponry
One of the few things that we do know about Ada Wong is that she likes wearing red high heels. In Resident Evil: Damnation, we learn that these heels aren’t just a fashion choice.
Ada escapes from a rope that is binding her hands by acrobatically lifting her shoes to her hands and unscrewing one of the heels. The well-prepared Ada flips a switch on the heel and out pops a knife, allowing her to cut free.
9 A Backheel That’d Make Messi Jealous
Ada’s acrobatics are seen again in Resident Evil 4. Ada and Leon continued their love-hate relationship in the series’ most critically acclaimed game, and one moment has them scuffling over a gun.
After Leon disarms Ada, she returns the favor with a forward flip. The flip isn’t just an evasive maneuver, as she kicks the gun out of Leon’s hand and catches it on the way down.
8 “See You Around”
The backheel wasn’t Ada’s only great moment in the cutscene. After Leon bests Ada with the use of his knife, Leon begins questioning her. In true Ada fashion, she doesn’t take too kindly to being asked personal questions and nonchalantly drops her sunglasses on the floor.
They aren’t just any sunglasses though. The glasses let of a blinding flash of light, allowing Ada to grab her gun and escape. She ensures Leon knows that she’s two steps ahead of him with a casual “see you around” before jumping out of sight. With her knife concealing shoes and exploding sunglasses, Ada’s friends should probably avoid borrowing clothes from her.
7 A Bumpy Ride
Clearly, Ada felt that her aforementioned encounter with Leon in Resident Evil 4 wasn’t mysterious enough, so she decided to confuse the poor guy some more.
After Leon defeats Salazar, Ada is conveniently waiting for Leon in a boat. A smooth journey was never on the cards though, as Ada fires her grappling hook onto a nearby cliff. She again hits Leon with a casual “see you around” before launching up the cliff as the boat spins out of control.
6 “You Can Have It”
In 2007’s rail shooter Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Ada Wong is in a tricky situation as she is chased by a fast-approaching enemy.
This isn’t a problem for Ada as she expertly fires her grappling hook and climbs aboard a moving helicopter’s dangling cargo. The monstrous enemy was able to grab Ada’s leg but only held onto her iconic red heel. Ada didn’t seem phased by this though as she calmly says, “You can have it.”
5 Escaping The Submarine
Ada Wong’s impressive athleticism isn’t just shown in cutscenes. In Resident Evil 6, players were treated to a section where they had to escape from a submarine that is dangerously filling with water.
Players utilize Ada’s grappling hook skills and free-running abilities as they escape the deteriorating submarine in style.
4 A Questionable Dive
Ada’s final appearance in Resident Evil 4 doesn’t disappoint. Ada finally reveals her intentions as she puts her gun to Leon’s head and takes the sample from him. She then charges to a nearby ledge and does a picturesque swan dive off a cliff.
Even more impressive than the dive is that she somehow landed in the passenger seat of a moving helicopter below.
3 “See You Around”… Again
Ada Wong’s swan dive into a moving helicopter seemingly wasn’t a big enough bang for her to go out on.
As the helicopter raises to Leon’s level, she gives him her final and most extreme mixed signal yet. She sets a timer off for the island that Leon is on to be destroyed, before throwing him the keys to her jetski and saying her all-too-fitting final words of the game, “See you around.”
2 “Use This”
“See you around” isn’t Ada’s only recurring dialog.
In both Resident Evil 4 and the original Resident Evil 2, Ada aids Leon in his fight against the game’s final boss. In each game, she throws a rocket launching weapon to Leon accompanied by a straightforward instruction, “Use this.” She also leaves a rocket launcher for Leon in Resident Evil 6. She isn’t there to use the catchphrase but does leave a lipstick kiss on the rocket.
1 Destroying The Lab
Resident Evil 6 was one of the series’ most divisive entries, but it did give a fitting end to Ada Wong’s character arc (for now). In the last we see of Ada, she destroys Carla Radames’ laboratory with her submachine gun.
As she walks away from the burning laboratory she responds to a call about a job by nonchalantly saying, “Sure. My schedule just cleared.”
