Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about to see a series of new holidays and events as winter approaches in the Northern Hemisphere. Now that New Horizons’ Halloween event has come and gone, players are gearing up for fall and Animal Crossing’s version of Thanksgiving: the Harvest Festival.
There are plenty of things for players to do before the Harvest Festival arrives on November 26, though. Thankfully, Nintendo has released a brand new trailer that details some of the new changes coming to player’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands in November.
The first thing the trailer notes is that as we get further and further into November in New Horizons, the scenery is slowly starting to change colors. The grass is a more yellow-ish shade of green, while the leaves are slowly but surely starting to turn deep shades of orange and red. The trailer then details the new bugs and fish for November in New Horizons. Though players in the Northern Hemisphere won’t have too many brand new bugs and fish to collect, especially if they started playing back when the game launched in March.
Along with the island’s scenery changing in November, brand new collectable items can be found all over player’s islands throughout the month. November introduces mushrooms that grow next to trees and flowers that players can collect and use to craft various Mushroom DIY recipes with. Players can even find very rare types of mushrooms by digging in certain spots around their islands, which will help them craft the entire Mushroom DIY set. Finally, in late November players can catch falling maple leaves to craft even more fall items.
As fall in the Northern Hemisphere is a much cooler time of year, the amount of new wildlife found in New Horizons dwindles a bit. In a way, this makes fall a much more laidback season in comparison to some of the other warmer seasons players experience in New Horizons. Still, November has one of the biggest holidays to look forward to at the end of the month through the Harvest Festival. Shortly after, players can look forward to the jolliest holiday in all of Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the Christmas Event called Toy Day.
December brings one of Animal Crossing’s favorite event characters as well in the form of Jingle, the happy-go-lucky reindeer and the host of Toy Day. While some may see November as a laidback month in New Horizons, December is sure to be filled with a lot of holiday spirit. This may be a lot of players first time experiencing Toy Day in Animal Crossing, considering New Horizons is almost the best-selling game on the Nintendo Switch. Needless to say, players who have never experienced Toy Day are in for quite the treat after November comes to an end.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
