Apex Legends Season 7 Character Tier List | Game Rant

Season 7 of Apex Legends is here, and with it comes a brand new map, sweeping balance changes, and a new legend to shake up the meta. The introduction of the new map, Olympus, is arguably the biggest factor in the meta shift, though several Legends received buffs with the start of Season 7.

Here are where each of the Legends fall in Season 7 of Apex LegendsNote: Legends are sorted into tiers by their individual strength and what they bring to a squad, but the individual tiers themselves are alphabetical

Bloodhound – Bloodhound is still without question one of the strongest Legends in the game. With superior tracking capabilities and an ultimate that can be continuously extended so long as Bloodhound gets knocks, Bloodhound is the best-of-the-best when it comes to tracking down and locating opponents. Bloodhound was also dominant in S-Tier in the Season 6 Character Tier list, and while Respawn dialed back Bloodhound’s tactical buff while in Beast of the Hunt, Bloodhound remains virtually unchanged and immensely powerful.

Gibraltar – Gibraltar remains an absolute unit. Until the day comes that Gibraltar cannot eat a Kraber headshot thanks to his Gun Shield, he will likely remain in S-Tier. He is incredibly useful for locking down a location, especially when it comes to making a location in the open safe from ultimates. His Dome Shield is great for helping teammates heal or revive, and his ultimate is great for zoning enemies or just dealing damage to those who cannot escape the area in time. Gibraltar has come a long way since pre-1season 1, and it seems like he’s going to be at the top for quite some time.

Crypto – Crypto received a series of small buffs leading up to Season 6’s launch that propelled him up the tier list. Crypto’s rise to fame also came as necessity due to the inclusion of defensive heroes like Caustic, Wattson, and the Sentry Gun-wielding Rampart. His EMP serves as a hard counter to teams who fortify one indoor location, and also gives great recon information as well. Crypto’s Drone can even snag survey beacons as of Season 6, so he can even help plan a route as the circle closes. Crypto sees a good amount of use at higher levels, and is often seen as a good pick for solid team comps.

Lifeline – As one of the only Legends in the game that can provide a healing perk, Lifeline has a solid place in the meta for sure. Her D.O.C Drone provides a nice bit of healing to her and her squadmates, and can be used to revive teammates while Lifeline continues to fight. The latter was a recent change before Season 6 launched, and it has proved to be a huge buff for Lifeline. Her care package is always a nice bonus, but her real perks come from the healing and reviving she provides. For those interested in Lifeline as a character, she is going to be a big focus in Season 7’s story.

Mirage – Mirage jumped up in the tier list when he received a rework back in Season 5, and in Season 7, Respawn decided to give him a little more love to keep him relevant in the meta. Previously, Mirage’s decoys would dissipate after being shot which would alert Mirage to the enemy’s location via an on-screen icon). Now, each of Mirage’s decoys have 45 HP, meaning they can take a couple shots before disappearing. This greatly increases the mind games Mirage can do with his decoys, and every time a decoy is shot, Mirage and his team are made aware of the enemy’s location. Mirage’s rework made him a great Legend, and he’s only gotten better.

Revenant – When Revenant launched back in Season 4, he was bottom tier. However, halfway through the season, Respawn buffed Revenant drastically which skyrocketed him up the tier list. With two charges of his powerful Silence ability, his fast crouch movement, higher climbing, and limitless Death Totem, Revenant is a killing machine if used in the right hands. He can orchestrate tactical pushes on enemy teams thanks to his abilities that make it a really challenge to fight against.

Bangalore – Bangalore is Respawn’s take on the traditional “soldier class” of character, and she fits the roll perfectly. Bangalore doesn’t have any super flashy abilities, just some smoke bombs, a speed boost, and a carpet bomb. The smokes are perfect for either engaging or disengaging (though beware of Bloodhound with these), her speed boost allows for quick maneuvering while being shot at, and her ultimate is perfect for zoning enemies. Her ultimate even got a buff this season, allowing the bombs to detonate faster, but Bangalore has no major strengths that can push her higher in the tier list compared to other Legends. She’s a solid pick, but certainly not the strongest Legend in the game.

Caustic – Caustic has always been seen as essential for locking down an area and keeping enemies from entering  alongside Wattson and Rampart. Historically, Caustic’s traps will cloud enemy vision, slow them down, and deal damage (that ramps up the longer the enemy is in the gas). However, this season Respawn adjusted his traps to no longer slow enemies down when inside the gas. To make up for this, the damage from his gas is higher, starting at a higher point and ramping up to a higher damage-per-second. While this feels like a nerf overall, the damage from the gas is solid, and since it bypasses shields, it is still incredibly effective in close quarters – like in many of the skyscraper buildings on the new map Olympus.

Octane – Apex‘s resident speed demon is in a pretty solid spot considering where he started. This season even brought a slight buff to Octane’s passive health regeneration, bringing it up to 1 HP/s from 0.5 HP/s. His Jump Pad is great for helping his team get the height advantage, while his Stim ability allows him to initiate quickly into a fight or escape in a flash. He’s in a solid spot in the meta for sure, though he is still missing something to keep him from climbing higher. At least Respawn reverted some of the controversial Battle Pass changes so fans can get his amazing Battle Pass skin this season.

Rampart – Rampart was Season 6’s new Legend, and she debuted with quite a bang. Her deployable Sentry Gun is incredibly powerful, and her Amped Cover provides good tactical benefits for her and her team. Since her launch, Respawn has made the minigun spin up faster, tighten its spread faster, and made Amped Cover deploy faster, making Rampart a great pick overall. The only thing holding her back, much like Caustic and Wattson, is the reliance on staying in one spot.

Wattson – Wattson is the third in the trifecta of lockdown Legends. Her Electric Fences are great for repelling enemies who try to enter her location, though they can be easily destroyed by shooting the base of them, or by Crypto’s EMP. The fences did get a buff this season which increased the damage that Legends take by crossing the fences, which is a nice buff, but not game-changing. Her ultimate is the Interceptor Pylon which stops any grenades or ultimate abilities from entering the circle around it. It’s incredibly powerful, though unfortunately they only last a short time, so make sure Wattson is stocked up on Ultimate Accelerants.

Wraith – Wraith is often seen as the poster-child for Apex Legends, like Overwatch‘s Tracer. She’s also received a large number of tweaks and changes to her abilities since launch. In Season 7, she remains unchanged from the previous season, as her Phasewalk and Portal are still both incredible abilities if used in the right hands. She is great for getting in and out of fights with relative ease, but she’s nowhere near as powerful as she used to be.

Horizon – Horizon is the new face joining the roster in Season 7, complete with a kit revolving around gravity abilities. Her passive allows her to have soft landings and increased in-air control, so she can jump off of great heights without being stunned temporarily when landing. Her Tactical Ability creates an anti-gravity well that will launch players upward to get to high ground or catch enemies by surprise. Horizon’s ultimate deploys a Black Hole, not too dissimilar from Zarya’s Graviton Surge from Overwatch, which will pull anyone nearby into the trap. Unfortunately the Black Hole does also target Horizon herself, which is a real shame. Horizon has great potential, and is generally a fun character to play as, but unfortunately her kit isn’t quite where it should be to make her a meta-shifting character.

Loba – Respawn has been desperately trying to make Loba a good Legend to use, and after several buffs, she is in a decent spot. Her tactical so far has been performing decent on Olympus, and the fact the starts the game with 50% of her Black Market charged is pretty powerful for early-game looting. A big change they made with Loba this season is that it no longer costs a Black Market use to grab ammo, so Loba could theoretically snag all ammo in an area and pile it up for her team. Whether this will be practical or not remains to be seen, but she’s definitely in a better place.

Pathfinder – Pathfinder was butchered by Respawn back in Season 5 due to some major changes to how Pathfinder’s Grappling Hook worked. The dev gave him a 35 Second Cooldown on the grapple, which was 3x as long as it used to be. Then in Season 6, it tried to make the grapple have a scaling cooldown based on the distance traveled, but it was poorly executed and resulted in even longer cooldowns in some instances. In Season 7, the scaling cooldown remains, but is tuned in a much better way to be more forgiving to those who are using it for short hops rather than flinging themselves across the map. It’s still worse than pre-Season 5 Pathfinder, but at least it’s getting better.

Season 7 is off to a bit of a rocky start due to some controversy surrounding the Battle Pass changes (which have been reverted to an extent). While fans seem to be enjoying the new map and Legend, only time will tell if Olympus stays in people’s minds, or if they are simply biding their time until World’s Edge and King’s Canyon make a return. Hopefully, more character reworks in Apex Legends are planned for this season to help keep things interesting, especially for those legends bringing up the bottom of the tier list.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A Switch version is currently in development.
