New Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Trailer Details PlayStation-Exclusive Content, Fans Aren’t Happy

Additional loadout slots, tier skips, and more are what PlayStation players have to look forward to in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Early access and unique skins have become the usual, but fans of the ongoing FPS series are not happy to see the exclusives for PS systems grow to include in-game actions that provide a performance advantage above other players.

What has been revealed as PlayStation exclusives comes by way of the latest Black Ops Cold War trailer, seen below:

In the video, Sony confirms that PlayStation 4 and 5 Black Ops Cold War players will enjoy two extra create-a-class slots, extra XP for weapons, exclusive double-XP events, and even extra ways to tier skip.

Sony also revealed the Battle Pass Bundle Bonus incentives for PlayStation players, which retails for $20, that allows for five additional tier skips, bringing the grand total to 25. When this was revealed Call of Duty fans from all platforms took to social media, including Resetera and Reddit, to voice their displeasure. Even PlayStation players themselves are noting the unfair disadvantage.

What’s more, fans are also pushing back against the revealed PlayStation Party Bonus, another platform-tied feature that allows parties gaming together to accrue +25% weapon XP, and that extends to if the party has other platforms playing with them. For all PlayStation players, that bonus will stack up automatically.

Between the freely given bonuses, the additional double XP opportunities, and the additional loadout slots, the advantage isn’t huge but no advantage should be seen at all in terms of content when looking at the different platforms. The most recent revelation is yet another instance where players are calling Sony anti-consumer, a stance made more apparent as Xbox continues to share ways they are making games more cost-accessible and fair across the board.

Oh, and don’t forget that Zombies Onslaught is a PlayStation exclusive for an entire year.

For better or worse, all of the above exclusives will remain in place, including Zombies, until November 1, 2021. What do you think about Sony’s aggressively evolving strategy regarding exclusives for live-service games like this? Do you think that the PS-exclusive Black Ops Cold War content is justified, or do you agree with others that it is “anti-consumer”? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below!
