AEW Star Kenny Omega Teases Video Game Reveal | Game Rant

Ever since the star-studded promotion was first announced in 2019, wrestling fans around the world have followed AEW. Loaded with some of professional wrestling’s biggest names – including Jon Moxley, Cody Rhodes, Chris Jericho, Matt Hardy, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, the Young Bucks, and more – the show has gone on to do big numbers and become a household name.

As many will no doubt know, the promotion is set to enter the gaming space soon, with several of the brand’s most notorious stars hyping up the announcement of an upcoming AEW video game. Hype continues to grow as fans are slated to learn more about the game via a stream later today, with former AEW Tag-Team Champion Kenny Omega teasing the reveal on Twitter.

Responding to Matt Hardy’s announcement that today is going to be “a special day” for AEW’s new slate of video games, The Cleaner claimed he was “a little nervous” about the reveal. According to the wrestling legend, the promotion is ready to “let loose a little bit of info” when it streams at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Seeing as Omega is a big video game buff himself, even cosplaying as Undertale’s Sans during one of his entrances last year, it seems today’s announcement might be linked to the AEW icon. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion has been a prominent part of the game’s build-up already, teasing that more information would be on the way in January.

As for what AEW’s first video game could be, according to AEW owner Tony Khan, there are multiple games in development. One will reportedly act as a traditional wrestling game, with Cody Rhodes teasing that the title will be influenced by the N64’s acclaimed WWF No Mercy. The other will allegedly go all-in on WWE 2K players’ desire for the return of GM mode, seeing players book AEW cards and manage ratings.

Regardless, fans don’t have to speculate about AEW’s plans for its slate of new video games much longer, with the company scheduled to reveal fresh details today. As for the wrestling promotion’s live-action endeavors, the company recently hosted Full Gear, with the show being largely celebrated by its fanbase. The card saw Kenny Omega defeat “Hangman” Adam Page for a number one contender spot, Darby Allen topple Cody Rhodes for the TNT championship, and Jon Moxley retain the AEW Heavyweight Championship against Eddie Kingston in an “I Quit” Match.

An untitled AEW video game is currently in development.
