Bungie sent the Season of Arrivals off with a bang with a new live event, coordinating not only the arrival of the Darkness with the planned server maintenance ahead of the Beyond Light expansion’s release. Even with Destiny 2 being under maintenance, players have been able to glean a bit more information about the expansion, however, this time it isn’t from a leak or datamining. Visiting the Bungie Store shows off a brand new inventory meant to coincide with the new expansion, including some new earnable rewards.
One set of items are actually directly related to the popular title and seal mechanic in Destiny 2. Originally introduced inside of the Forsaken campaign two years ago, seals introduce a number of optional objectives that the player can earn related to a specific activity. They’ve become quite popular with the player base as once all objectives are met, the player unlocks a title that they can equip and show off to other players. Each season has typically brought a new seal and title to chase, typically related to specific content recently introduced.
While the Destiny Content Vault has now deprecated a group of older seals and titles from the game, the Beyond Light expansion is bringing three more for Destiny 2 players to chase once the content goes live today. The discovery actually comes from the Bungie Store where the reward pins can clearly be shown. While the product description doesn’t reveal any objectives related to the specific seals, players can at least get an idea as to what each one is related to based on the names.
The three seals each list the title that will display for the player once unlocked. The three Beyond Light titles are: Warden, Splinterer, and Descendant. Naturally, the fan base has already got to work attempting to decypher each one and the consensus from fans appears to be that the Deep Stone Crypt raid title is going to be Descendant. Splinterer is likely going to be Europa specific with a number of more destination-centric objectives to meet. Finally, the seasonal title is likely Warden, related to helping Uldren Sov hunting Wraithborn and Empire VIP targets.
Once the servers come back online in a few hours, players will likely start to see the extensive changes Bungie has made to the current experience. The biggest alteration is the removal of five destinations from the game and all of the related quests, activities, and other content related to them. Player inventories will also be a bit more empty as a big list of currencies and items have been removed. New kiosks will appear in the Tower and new destinations become playable like the return of the Cosmodrome on Earth as well as Europa, another of Jupiter’s moons.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases November 10, 2020 for PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The PS5 version will release on November 12.
