Fall Guys Charity Streaming Event to Raise Money for Children Impacted by War

Since most people are lucky enough to experience war exclusively through the news and fictional media like, say, Call of Duty, it can be easy to forget sometimes that war is something that affects real people, especially children, and continues to do so. Thankfully, there are people out there who are trying to do what they can to help, and this month some of them are turning to games like Fall Guys to raise some funds.

War Child UK is a charity organization that specializes in providing refuge and education to kids caught up in conflicts across the globe. Much of the money that goes into this comes from video games, as War Child UK has taken part in gaming charity events to raise awareness since 2006. Continuing that trend, it has announced that it has partnered with Devolver Digital and Mediatonic to make Fall Guys the centerpiece of the latest iteration of its annual fundraiser event, Armistice.

The non-violent, kid-friendly battle royale will be featured in a series of charity streams that will take place from November 19 to November 30. War Child UK is asking popular streamers to stream Fall Guys during that time to encourage viewers to donate, and anyone who’s interested in taking part can register on fundraising platform Tiltify. What’s more, all donations made by UK viewers between November 19 and February 18, 2021 will be matched by the British government, doubling the total amount of money raised.

There’s also another way for gamers to contribute. War Child UK also has a special Armistice sale on Steam from now until November 17 that’s offering 18 non-violent games like I Am Bread, Mini Metro, and 80 Days, with prices going as low as $0.49. A percentage of all proceeds will go directly towards children impacted by war, and with the world’s warzones being made even more dangerous by the COVID-19 pandemic, any amount of money will no doubt be appreciated.

Going back to Fall Guys, this won’t be the first time it’s been used to support a good cause. Not long after it launched in August, Fall Guys hosted a charity event called “Battle of the Brands.” It was effectively a bidding war that challenged companies to make the largest donation to Special Effect, a charity focusing on gamers with physical disabilities, in exchange for their brand being added to an in-game costume.

Given Devolver and Mediatonic’s willingness to use the game for charity, chances are good that the game will show up in other gaming-charity events in the near future. What those events may offer remains to be seen, but one can imagine that it might involve a new character skin in a similar vein as Fall Guys’ upcoming Untitled Goose Game skin.

Fall Guys is available for PC and PS4.
