10 Pro Tips To Upgrade Your Watch Dogs: Legion Experience

Thanks to Ubisoft‘s Watch Dogs series, players can lead a cyber revolution against an alternate history ruled over by surveillance. With Watch Dogs: Legion, DedSec takes the fight against CTOS in London, where players can now recruit people to become hacker agents – among other shenanigans.

However, Ubisoft promised more intuitive features that can transform the dynamic players used to have with Watch Dogs‘ world. In turn, how should players smartly approach their gameplay in Legion?

10 Disrupt And Whack ‘Em With Guns

Combat in Legion can be difficult if  Operatives need to take out multiple guards at a time, especially if they’re using a non-combat recruit. And sadly, taking them on with hand-to-hand will give them more than enough time to call reinforcements. Players simply need two things to get out of these situations: a gun, and the Disrupt Hack.

Thanks to the Disrupt Hack, players can hijack an enemy’s Optik to electrocute them, immobilizing them for a short while. This window should give players enough time to get close and combo for a takedown. However, instead of going hand-to-hand, players might find it easier to whack enemies with the butt of their guns repeatedly until the Takedown option appears.

9 Exploit The Taunt Emotes

In Legion, players have access to Emotes that their Operatives can do to make for some entertaining poses and actions. Operatives can actually elicit reactions from NPCs when doing this in full view. Infiltrators can taunt enemies guarding entrances to fight them. And of course, guards who fall for this trick will open the door, enabling players to enter and take them out with a takedown.

This taunting mechanic can pave the way for a lot of silent intrusions on the part of the player. When used properly, players can infiltrate even the most secure facilities without being detected thanks to the power of trolling.

8 The Handy-Dandy Cargo Drone

Players who get to recruit the Construction Worker in the game will likely realize just how useful the Cargo Drone can become. For instance, hijacking any Cargo Drone can have the player steal its packages – be it ETOs or even ammunition. However, it’s when players ride the Drone that things can get fun.

By the time players ride Drones around the map, they can finally conveniently access rooftops. Aside from this, players can actually rain hell on enemies in places they want to infiltrate. They can simply carry heavy cargo or even flammable objects and drop them on unsuspecting enemies. Of course, players still need to be careful as aerial combat against other Drones can get tricky.

7 Get Drones Out Of The Way

In speaking of drones, on the off-chance of players encountering one while scouting the area, they might complicate matters of intrusion. After all, disabling a drone can get them down quickly but they will alert nearby reinforcements. Interestingly, players who upgraded their hacking to get the drone hijack ability can simply pull a hard reset.

Instead of disabling them, players can simply hijack a drone and move them out of their designated operating zone. Players will notice this when the game prompts them that the drone is losing signal. Afterward, the drones players are controlling will deactivate. After a few seconds, they’ll turn on once again but they won’t return to the previous area – enabling players to effectively shoo a drone away.

6 Pull Up A “No U” On Drones

If getting a drone away isn’t an option, players can simply hijack drones and quick hack them into killing their nearby allies. In essence, this tactic effectively removes any hostiles players might encounter while infiltrating an area. Dead guards mean players can freely take down the drone. Meanwhile, as the drone already killed its nearby allies, there aren’t any targets to alert once they’re out of commission.

Players can utilize this tactic in almost any situation. Aside from infiltrations in corporate buildings, players can use the drone hijacking tactic if they’re hiding from police pursuit or if they’re being chased around.

5 Stick The Spiderbot To Vehicles

Players might soon discover that the Spiderbot has a function that allows it to fire weapons at enemies for a short time. Most of the time, players will use this in gunfights when the Spiderbot isn’t finding Easter Eggs. However, players should start treating the Spiderbot as a handy turret they can attach to vehicles as well.

Players might forget that they can technically stick the Spiderbot to any moving surface and set it to autofire on hostiles. Players can also manually control their Spiderbot with an upgrade. In essence, they can suddenly stop the car and fire at enemies before resuming the chase, with the Spiderbot acting as a turret.

4 Don’t Settle For Uniformed Access

In terms of recruitment, chances are players will want to recruit Operatives with Uniformed Access. After all, this Perk essentially allows them to enter areas that normally require special access to enter. These include work and specializations such as the Construction Worker, the Paramedic, or even an Albion Officer. However, players shouldn’t settle for just “anyone” with Uniformed Access and a couple of random Perks.

If possible, players scouting a recruit with Uniformed Access should head to their place of work. That way, they can spot other NPCs with Uniformed Access like the target. The different part now would be their extra Perks. It’s advisable that players pick NPCs with Uniformed Access plus a reasonable combat Perk to aid them in infiltration.

3 Catch Better Recruits By Liberating Boroughs

In Legion, the player’s main objective is to “liberate” a London borough by making them “defiant.” Essentially, players need to accomplish missions that slowly convert the population as DedSec supporters and condemn the harsh and authoritarian environment of CTOS-dominated London. Unfortunately, players do need to accomplish a variety of tasks that slowly liberate the borough they’re targeting. However, they do come with various rewards.

For instance, liberating Nine Elms and Westminster will reward players with a Hitman and Spy Operative, respectively. As players would know, both of these aren’t only rare recruits but also very useful in combat situations.

2 Risk-Free Car Jacking With Remote Vehicles

As with most Watch Dogs entries, players can freely steal cars to roam around the map. Unfortunately, stealing cars from civilians do accumulate and raise the wanted status of the player. However, in Legion, players can get rides scot-free by looking out for remote vehicles. They can notice these vehicles as they’re driverless and have a blinking “A” on top of the driver’s seat. They can simply ride the vehicle and take off without arousing suspicion.

Players can actually try stealing vehicles by provoking drivers to get out of their cars. Players can do this by taunting them or disturbing them in stops, such as by jumping on top of the vehicle. Once they exit the vehicle, chances are high that stealing the vehicle won’t count towards criminal activity.

1 Take Careful Note Of Targets

Players out there in London know that every single NPC they interact with can become a potential Operative. Unfortunately, some NPCs do tend to be on the wrong side of DedSec’s justice, making them targets. Sadly, when players take out these targets, they more or less cut ties with people they’re associated with – making them look at DedSec negatively or, at worse, plan revenge. People out for revenge actually trigger side missions that involve rescuing kidnapped Operatives, among others.

In order to avoid these complications, players should take note of their targets. Ideally, players shouldn’t engage anyone with lethal force and instead simply take them down. This caveat drastically increases the difficulty of Legion, but this guarantees that even the hardiest of enemies can become recruits.
