Apex Legends Battle Pass Resets Star Progress | Game Rant

Apex Legends‘ seventh season introduced a bunch of new things for players to adapt to: the new map Olympus, a new vehicle to drive around in and, of course, the new playable Legend Horizon, who is able to manipulate gravity and create miniature black holes.

Possibly the most dramatic change to the game, though, was the revamped Battle Pass. In a Reddit post, Respawn explained that it wanted to make playing the game more seamless and otherwise simplify the Battle Pass with an all-new Star system. However, these supposed improvements are instead angering fans, as it is being reported that Star progress gets periodically reset.

The way the new Star system works is that every 10 Battle Stars acquired in Apex Legends unlocks a rank in the Battle Pass. Stars can be obtained by completing various in-game challenges, which can encourage players to try out different characters and test new strategies.

However, as has been noted on places like Reddit, players have found out the hard way that the Stars will reset by the end of the week. So, if a player manages to get nine Stars by the end of the week, those Stars will all be gone the next day, essentially nullifying any progress made.

Unsurprisingly, this has not gone down well with the community, who have quickly aired their grievances with Respawn, with some asking the studio to revert back to the original Battle Pass system, despite Respawn previously stating it has no intention to do so.

Fortunately, Respawn has said that this is not meant to happen and is the result of some kind of bug. Respawn’s director of community and communications, Ryan K. Rigney, addressed the issue on both Reddit and Twitter, theorizing that it may have been caused by the changes Respawn has been making to the Battle Pass and that an update should arrive by the end of today. Hopefully, it won’t require Respawn to go back on its recent promise of not enforcing crunch.

Apex Legends is no stranger to bugs like this but, despite the issues, they don’t appear to have hampered the battle royale’s popularity. Less than a week ago, it hit a major player milestone on Steam, despite the fact that it had only been available on Steam since November 4th.

In fact, Apex Legends has been performing so well that it’s now on track to earn $1 billion by the end of March 2021, which is impressive for a game that is free-to-play and only launched in February 2019.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
