Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: How Long Does It Take to Beat?

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, like Odyssey before it, is a massive game. Depending on how players approach the game, it could end up being a major time investment. Thankfully, it’s so fun that most players wouldn’t mind investing that time into it, but it still helps to know just what one is getting into. Valhalla’s map around the same size as Odyssey’sand it takes about the same time to clear.

As an open world game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is filled to the brim with exploration opportunities, side quests, and other activities for players to engage with. For this reason, there are three categories to examine when determining how long it takes to beat: story only, an average playthrough, and a 100% completion run.

The first category, story only, is for players that ignore all side content throughout the entire game. This involves doing nothing but playing through the story quests until the credits roll. An average playthrough will feature a healthy serving of some side content, while a 100% completion run requires players to do everything there is to possibly do in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

For most players, completing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will take around 60-80 hours depending on how much side content they engage with. This is for an average run, and assumes that players are engaging with the extra activities but not necessarily obsessing over doing all of them. This should provide a comfortable pace that will encompass most of what the game has to offer without being too rushed or too tedious. On the other hand, players rushing through the story will likely be able to finish in about 40 hours instead.

For those players intent on getting 100% completion in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the journey will take anywhere between 100-120 hours, possibly even more. Much of this depends on how efficient the player is during their time with the game, as well as their general skill level. Outside of story missions, players have to tackle numerous side quests, collect tons of gear, win Orlog matches against NPCs, take part in drinking contests and flyting battles, and much more. This approach to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is certainly a lengthy one, but it can be equally rewarding.

Overall, most players should expect to spend around 60 hours with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, give or take several hours depending on how they approach the story. There’s a whole lot to explore in the game so players that thoroughly enjoy it can always go back after beating it and continue to experience all it has to offer.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, and releases on November 12th for PS5.
