Third Free PS Plus Game for November 2020 Available Now

With the PlayStation 5 debuting today, eager Sony fans are likely getting stuck into the variety of fun experiences the console has to offer. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to bring the web-slinger back to screens in a new adventure, while Demon’s Souls looks to resurrect the iconic PlayStation 3 classic of the same name, showcasing Boletaria in stunning 4K.

Of course, players on PlayStation Plus will also get access to another major exclusive this month, with the service’s free games lineup offering Young Horses’ Bugsnax. As of today, the game is officially available to claim, meaning those currently enjoying Sony’s newest console can download and play the quirky indie game as soon as possible.

For those wondering whether they can grab themselves a copy of Bugsnax for free on PlayStation 5 without owning the console, they absolutely can. Logging into the PlayStation Store through a computer or mobile device allows players to claim themselves a copy of Bugsnax to add to their library. A PlayStation Plus subscription is naturally needed to get the game, but it means Bugsnax will be waiting for those currently holding off on buying a PlayStation 5. It’s a big game for Sony to offer free of charge, so it’s definitely one to make sure is in every player’s library when they boot up the publisher’s newest console.

As for Bugsnax itself, the game follows a journalist who ventures to a remote island populated by half-bug, half-snack creatures. It seems the game will focus on the idea of helping the island’s residents learn more about themselves while also catching some of its most notorious critters and snack-based fauna. The game managed to gain major viral success when it debuted at a PlayStation showcase earlier this year, with its catchy theme, bizarre central concept, and wacky visuals leading it to become a major talking point in the gaming community. Its scores from critics were far from a joke, however, with the game landing some solid reviews in recent days.

PlayStation’s decision to put Bugsnax (one of its more notable launch titles) up for free for PlayStation Plus subscribers indicates that the company could be looking to use the service to launch some smaller games in coming months. Fall Guys was the last release to benefit from this strategy, with the title becoming a viral behemoth as a result, while the company recently announced that Destruction All-Stars would also look to use PS Plus as a launchpad. Regardless, it means an influx of players are getting their hands on new games right as they launch, which is no doubt a positive for both consumers and the industry as a whole.

Bugsnax is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
