Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations for November 13

The day many Destiny 2 fans have been waiting for finally arrived this week as the highly anticipated Beyond Light expansion launched. The game underwent significant changes thanks in large part to a significant portion of content being removed and placed inside of the Destiny Content Vault. While vaulted content can reappear down the road, the void left in the wake of content being sunset is seemingly impacting a good number of players.

While Beyond Light introduces a fair share of new exotic items and weapons, many fans are seemingly disappointed that a lot of beloved legacy gear is now more or less obsolete. Without a ton of new gear to occupy the large hole now left in the loot pool, the situation has seeingly been made a bit worse by the delay to this weekend’s Trials of Osiris event and the promise of adept weapons due to a recently found glitch that gives Warlocks an infinite super. Still, there’s plenty of time left in the Season of the Hunt, so new weapons are likely right around the corner.

For now, fans can turn their attention to the exotic merchant Xur who has made his appearance for the first time in Destiny 2 after the launch of Beyond Light. Follow this guide for his location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of November 13, 2020.

While many may assume that Xur would land on the latest destination of Europa, he’s instead back in the Tower hangar.

As usual, fast travel to the main Tower location and head left into the Hangar. Once there, take another left and move past the Dead Orbit section to find a metal staircase. Move up the stairs to find Xur on a platform overlooking the mountain range off in the distance.

While Xur’s role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk.

This week, players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Chromatic Fire – Warlock chest armor

The unique looking Warlock exotic has remained relatively untouched as of late, avoiding the sandbox changes Bungie made to many exotics are the start of the Season of the Worthy. For those who somehow don’t have it yet, it’s worth getting for situations where players are up against lots of enemies.

Its perk, Crystalline Transistor, causes an explosion, in the element of the player’s equipped subclass, after a kinetic precision kill. Having lots of enemies in a tight spot really maximizes the elemental damage. For PvP players, other guardians have mentioned that this armor is good when using particular weapons that cause explosions like Ace of Spades. One thing to keep in mind that it currently does not work with Stasis subclasses, so players will need to use the classic trio to maximize the benefits of this gear.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +8
  • Resilience +8
  • Recovery +17
  • Discipline +13
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +13

Raiden Flux – Hunter chest armor

It’s been a little while but Raiden Flux is back on sale with Xur for Hunters. This exotic chest piece comes with the perk Synapse Junctions which buffs Arcstrider staff damage and duration when chaining moves together. To really maximize the return this exotic provides, its recommended that Hunters perform the light hit, light hit, heavy hit combo attack.

This is arguable the best exotic gear for Arcstrider Hunters and is absolutely recommended for players who like to run this subclass. The damage increase is substantial against all types of enemies and the added duration is extremely helpful.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +16
  • Resilience +9
  • Recovery +7
  • Discipline +13
  • Intellect +9
  • Strength +9

Aeon Safe – Titan gauntlets

The big loser this week are the Titans as they have arguably the worst exotic item in the game: Aeon Safe. Added inside of the Curse of Osiris expansion, these are one third of the full Aeon Cult set. They work best when other players are wearing gear from it, though no one currently does which means players won’t get the full benefit. Its exotic perk is Aeon Energy which grants added grenade energy to Warlocks, barricade energy to Titans, and dodge energy to Hunters when the user throws a grenade. For teammates that don’t have Aeon gear, they’ll only receive a small energy boost.

Xur has featured this set often for each of the three classes but the recommendation remains the same: these exotic gauntlets are not worth anyone’s time or resources outside of those attempting to collect every exotic item. Hard. Pass.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +8
  • Resilience +12
  • Recovery +13
  • Discipline +14
  • Intellect +14
  • Strength +2

At one point, the Lord of Wolves shotgun was one of the most used weapons in the game thanks to a bug that caused the weapon to basically just melt enemies. While Bungie let the gun run wild in Crucible a little longer than it would have liked, the gun is no where near as fearsome as it once was. Even still, it remains a strong close quarters weapon and is worth a look for those who don’t yet have it.

Its Intrinsic perk is called Shrapnel Launcher which causes the gun to fire a powerful short-range burst of solar damage. However, its trait called Release the Wolves is what really enhances this weapon’s potency. Players that hold the reload button can swap to a longer, more powerful burst.

Additional perks:

  • Chambered Compensator
  • Extended Mag
  • Composite Stock

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for November 13, 2020:

  • Chromatic Fire (Warlock chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Raiden Flux (Hunter chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Aeon Safe (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Lord of Wolves (Shotgun) – 29 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram – 97 Legendary Shards
  • Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now available PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
