Destiny 2 Disables Moon Bounties to Fix Glitch | Game Rant

Bungie has quickly moved to correct another issue that hit Destiny 2 recently, likely arising as an unforeseen error that came with the recent Beyond Light update. However, this most recent issue, involving the repeatable bounties available on the Moon, did stay up long enough for a few players to make use of the recent Beyond Light exploit.

The issue itself was quickly addressed by the Bungie Help Twitter account, a helpful resource for Destiny 2 news and updates that players should be aware of. Of course, this was well after the bug started getting spread around among fans on Reddit and other forums in order to jump on an opportunity to grind up a substantial amount of experience in a short amount of time.

Before Bungie removed the exploit, players were able to head to the Moon, an area added with last year’s Shadowkeep expansion, and complete bounties for a considerably higher XP reward than was intended. While this speedy gain in experience wouldn’t have done anything for players as far as their light level is concerned, it did give some a chance to rush through their season pass at record speed. With some players reportedly reaching rank 75 in the Season of the Hunt’s season pass, this was clearly an especially unbalanced acceleration in level gains.

While the exploit has been temporarily taken care of by disabling bounties on the Moon, that doesn’t mean that players didn’t already have a huge amount of time to get everything they could out of this broken reward system. Some players have reported being able to grind the repeatable bounties for up to four hours before Bungie was made aware of the issue and disabled the responsible bounties to contain the problem. This does unfortunately mean that a number of players will now how an advantage over others for having simply been in the right place at the right time, but that is often the case for exploits in Destiny 2, with players willing to take advantage gaining an edge.

This isn’t the first issue that Bungie has run into since launching Beyond Light, and it likely won’t be the last one to show up in the coming weeks as players dive into more activities and locations. However, while Bungie has received some criticism for Beyond Light, it has still been a huge step forward for the series, setting up the future of Destiny 2 with a brand new subclass and evolving storyline. It was an undertaking that took place with a number of employees working from home, and while more issues are certain to appear, the game itself has been running smoothly for the majority of players.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
