It was announced earlier in 2020 that Game Freak would be moving its office space to Kanda-Nishikicho in Tokyo, which will allow the company to share the same office building as Nintendo, HAL Laboratory, and 1-Up Studio. Game Freak is certainly taking advantage of its office space as it has designed its work area to be inspired by Pokemon Red and Green’s Kanto region.
The offices themselves were designed by Canuch Inc., who was instructed to model each of the room based off of various areas in the Kanto region in the original Pokemon games. There are many video game company offices that have brought their gaming motifs to the office space. For example, Nintendo of America has meeting rooms and Wi-Fi networks named after characters, such as the Bowser meeting room or the Yoshi Wi-Fi network.
The Game Freak offices though go above and beyond simple naming conventions. For example, the lobby area in the Game Freak office is based off of Virdian Forest and in the lobby, there are trees all over the area where visitors can apparently, hear the cries of Pokemon as well. Meeting rooms are based off of various towns in Pokemon Red and Green. The Pallet Town meeting room is white, much like how it in the game and the Cerulean City meeting area has a blue coloring and various designs to compliment the colors in the room.

According to Canuch Inc., Game Freak not only wanted the office to be based off of Pokemon Red and Green, the company also wanted the office to inspire an adventurous spirit to those who are working in the office spaces. It takes a lot of creative design to be a game developer, so Game Freak wants to likely inspire its workers to look at things from a new perspective in the new office spaces. That is likely the reason why many of the different rooms in the new Game freak offices are connected and anyone can pop up at nearly anytime to any space.
Of course, there are certain security restrictions that are set into place to make sure that whatever Game Freak is working on next cannot be leaked to the public. After all, Game Freak could be creating someone’s new favorite Pokemon right now and the company does not want that leaked to the public before it is ready. Hopefully with these new office spaces and sharing their office space with Nintendo, Game Freak can wow fans again with its newly inspired adventurous spirit.
