Netflix Teases Seven Deadly Sins Dragon’s Judgement | Game Rant

The realm of Shounen (‘for boys’ in Japanese) anime is a loaded field filled with some historically popular anime like One Piece and Naruto among others calling it home. Give credit to The Seven Deadly Sins for carving out its own space in this competitive genre as Netflix just released a teaser trailer for the upcoming season.

The Seven Deadly Sins was one of the first anime licensed by Netflix way back in 2015 and now enters its fifth season. Netflix teased the latest installment titled The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgement with a new video. Dragon’s Judgement is slated to premiere on TV Tokyo in Japan on January 6 after COVID-19 pushed back its original October release date.

This isn’t the first title people think of when it comes to action-adventure anime, but the show achieved enough of a following to keep going. The sci-fi anime Knights of Sidonia released around the same time as The Seven Deadly Sins yet its still waiting for a third season after five long years. A recent survey by an internet research company revealed that it is one of the most searched titles around the globe, but the best proof of its resilience is the fact that Netflix keeps on greenlighting more of it.

The show has been on a yearly release schedule since it debut with the movie The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky releasing in 2018. It follows an infamous band of knights known as the Seven Deadly Sins who were framed for plotting a coup against the Liones Kingdom. Things pick up 10 years later when the kingdom’s third princess Elizabeth teams up with the Sins leader Meliodas to gather the other knights and free the kingdom from a demon that has been manipulating things from behind the scenes.

Dragon’s Judgement brings back much of the staff from season 4 (titled Imperial Wrath of the Gods.) Susumu Nishizawa returned as director backed by Studio DEEN. Marvy Jack handled animation production with Rie Nishino as animation character designer and Chikako Yokota is directing sound.

There are certainly more popular anime out there on Netflix, but there is no denying that The Seven Deadly Sins found a home on the platform.
