The busy holiday shopping season is only a few weeks away, and players should expect tons of video game deals this year. Of course, given the on-going pandemic, most retailers are focusing their Black Friday offering online, though there are still some deals that players can get in-store. With the threat of the pandemic still looming nonetheless, it is expected that Black Friday 2020 will be vastly different from previous years.
Now, players who are wondering what to expect from Black Friday 2020, here are all the plans from major retailers so far, including what games they will offer, whether or not they will have stocks of next-gen consoles, and more. It’s worth noting that everything here is based on the initial Black Friday ads of retailers, and may still change once the holiday season is in full swing.
According to major retailers, there will be stocks of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on Black Friday. One of these retailers is GameStop which confirmed that it will have stocks of the PS5 and Xbox Series X in-store. At the moment, GameStop revealed that all stores will have a minimum of two PS5 units available when they open at 7 AM local time on November 27th. However, it is unclear whether the same allocation is given to the Xbox Series X and whether players can get their next-gen consoles online.
Walmart also confirmed that it will have stocks of the PS5 and Xbox Series X on Black Friday. However, players should note that Walmart is only offering next-gen consoles online, so players shouldn’t camp outside their local Walmart because there won’t be any stocks available there. Unfortunately, Walmart did not specify the specific times when stocks of next-gen consoles will appear on its website, so players should be vigilant and check often.
Lastly, Best Buy also confirmed that it will offer both the PS5 and Xbox Series X on Black Friday. Similar to Walmart, Best Buy is only offering next-gen consoles online, and according to the retailer, players won’t see the PS5 and Xbox Series X in any Best Buy brick-and-mortar stores until 2021. It is still unclear whether Target and Amazon will also receive stock replenishment of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but players should check in frequently just to make sure.
Of course, players shouldn’t expect any price discounts for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, especially now that the demand for these consoles is extremely high. Getting hands on one is difficult enough.
As far as games are concerned, players can expect tons of great deals, especially with some of the bigger games released this year. Some retailers revealed that it will offer Watch Dogs Legion, which was just released several weeks ago at a discount on Black Friday. According to GameStop, Watch Dogs Legion will be available for $32.99, which is $27 off its original list price of $59.99. Of course, given that Watch Dogs Legion just came out, this deal is definitely worth getting, especially for those who are still hesitant to purchase the game full price. Other recently released games that players should expect to get discounted this year are NBA 2K21, Marvel’s Avengers, Star Wars Squadrons, Ghost of Tsushima, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, and many more.
