Maybe Tom Holland Should Play All the Video Game Characters in Movies

It seems that Hollywood simply can’t get enough of Tom Holland, and for good reason. Holland’s most recent performances in the thriller The Devil All The Time and the animated movie Spies in Disguise reveal just how big his range is as an actor.

And since he’s playing Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie and supposedly playing Link in a possible Legend of Zelda live-action show, who’s to say that he can’t just be all the video game characters? Here’s several characters from different franchises that Holland should play as.

In a parallel universe, where instead of Detective Pikachu there was a live-action adaptation of Animal Crossing, Holland definitely plays Tom Nook. Just think of the headline: “Tom Holland Plays Rent-Hungry Raccoon” will certainly make heads turn. Animal Crossing already has an anime adaptation that was never officially released outside of Japan, and the franchise becomes more and more popular with every release of a new game. With that in mind, American audiences would love nothing more than to see a realistic CGI animated Tom Nook voiced by Holland greeting them back at theaters.

While fans are still anxiously waiting for any news regarding Bayonetta 3, Platinum Games should consider making a live-action Bayonetta film to give people something to chew on. Since her debut in Super Smash Bros., gamers want to see more Bayonetta, and who’d be a better candidate to play the sexy Umbra Witch than Mr. Holland himself? All he has to do is send in this video for his audition and he will instantly get the role. Perhaps the only thing he’s really lacking are stupidly long legs, but nothing like a good workout and a strict diet to get him into shape.

British? Check. Brown hair? Check. Thrown into the folds of time and space due to an experiment gone wrong? Uh, maybe. Look, there doesn’t seem to be any plans for an Overwatch movie, especially since Blizzard seems to have their hands full working on Overwatch 2. But since the beloved World of Warcraft movie did so well upon release, surely Blizzard would not not do the same for their most popular FPS. And as mentioned before, Holland is no stranger to cross-dressing.

Holland is Nathan Drake. He might be Link. So why didn’t Netflix just cast him as Geralt? Holland dipped his toes in the fantasy genre when he starred in Pixar’s Onward as a socially awkward elf boy, so he’s obviously the perfect fit to play a buff, angsty, sexy monster hunter. Of course, Henry Cavill currently plays everyone’s favorite witcher with season 2 still in production. But just in case Cavill ever needs to take a break from slicing up monsters and crying over Yennefer, Holland should definitely be next in line to take the spotlight. Obviously he and Cavill look almost exactly alike, and 24 year old Holland is perfectly suited to play Ciri’s father figure.

Oh, it would be so very splendid for there to be live-action movie adaptations of those Spider-Man games. One could argue that actors like Andrew Garfield or even Tobey Maguire would also be great fits for this web-slinging hero, but Holland has the range, darling! He could easily play as a young Peter Parker in high school. Since he’s in New York, he could also have connections with Tony Stark. A mentor/mentee relationship between the two characters could possibly bring Holland into The Avengers franchise at some point, which could also lead to at least 2 blockbuster hit Spider-Man movies that star Zendaya as Mary Jane and…and…okay, now this is just getting ridiculous. Who needs another superhero added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Holland as Spider-Man? What’s next, throwing Paul Rudd into The Avengers? Getting a Rick and Morty writer to work on a script for Ant-Man? Pfft, forget it.
