Within mainland Japan, a popular travel destination for denizens and tourists alike, known as the Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest, has invited several large-scale light installments inspired by games and anime, including Pokemon, to adorn its rolling hills and woods. As of November 15, 2020, the amusement park will be hosting a Pokemon-inspired light show running until April 4, 2021.
It comes as a surprise to nobody the amount of creativity on behalf of the Pokemon franchise utilized in bringing its characters to the masses. Standing as a multi-media behemoth since the 90s, its influence extends far beyond the games and into anime, movies, trading cards, amusement parks, too much merchandise to mention, and even a physical Pokemon Center store for the most devout Pokemaniacs and collectors.
A collection of breath-taking lighting arrangements in the likenesses of various pokemon accompanied by several floats will illuminate the Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest in a spectacle sure to impress even people somehow unfamiliar with the characters. A particular draw to the event is the presence of a gargantuan Gigantamax Pikachu float, guaranteed to generate some selfies from event-goers. Additionally, this event will also feature Pikachu’s Pika-Pika Lighting Show and the Eevee Friends’ Rainbow Chairlift.
The Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest is as much a nature walk as it is an amusement park, and this particular event is no exception in visiting promotions taking spectacular themes that utilize the land and attractions to make something truly memorable. Besides Pokemon, the park’s recurring Sagamiko Illumillion event often pulls inspiration from pop-culture and trendy entertainment properties. Notably, a recent collaboration took advantage of not only the park’s 500,000+ illuminations, but a giant screen for projecting a special viewing experience featuring the anime Macross.
Despite not being explicitly mentioned, Pokemon GO enthusiasts will likely find something enticing as they wander throughout the park’s glowing lawns and twinkling attractions. Being such a colorful and accessible series capable of inspiring these kinds of gatherings reinforces what a good time it is to be a Pokemon fan.
While public gatherings are typically ill-advised these days, the nature of an outdoor celebration of lights, art, and of course Pokemon, would feasibly allow for attendees to experience the event in relative safety. As the Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest is often a fun getaway for families and couples, the Pokemon Illumination Event can help alleviate cabin-fever in anybody, especially before the temperature drops too far for these kinds of video-game inspired events.
