According to a number of recent job postings, it appears that Bethesda Softworks may be hiring new staff to prepare work for the company’s first title developed under the Xbox Studios brand. This is specifically related to Bethesda Montreal and Austin, two of the locations for the main Bethesda Game Studios responsible for the Elder Scrolls series and modern Fallout.
A number of fans have quickly begun searching the job postings to see what games these new job postings may be for, although Bethesda has not come out publicly to announce any upcoming developments. While certain industry insiders do have a couple of assumptions based on recent patents and copyrights filed by the company, it is still speculation at this point.
The job postings themselves range from software engineers and programmers to artists and designers, although it isn’t clear if every one of these positions is intended to work on the same game. Some of the wording in a few of the job descriptions also implies that they aren’t for Elder Scrolls 6, due to information about mobile platforms appearing in the requirements for a number of these positions. However, that doesn’t mean that fans haven’t begun to theorize about what might be happening behind the scenes at Bethesda Game Studios with these new jobs.
One industry insider in particular, Skullzi, believes that these postings may be related to two future games titled Spyteam and Giant Monster News, based on the job descriptions. The language about “mobile application software” in Giant Monster News does tie in with a few of these job postings, so this might not be too far off from what these positions are intended to begin production on. That being said, these could also be filling out the team for titles that players have seen already, like Bethesda’s upcoming Starfield, even if the job descriptions do imply a new title.
Of course, with these job postings up, this does mean that there are a number of new opportunities out right now for developers looking for a position in either Austin or Montreal. With the wide range of positions, it would appear that the developer is attempting to draw in talent from every corner of the industry. Additionally, given that Bethesda was recently purchased by Microsoft, the developer’s current status under the Xbox umbrella should imply a certain amount of job security for anyone looking to join the newly acquired company and its backers.
Bethesda is rumored to be working on an unannounced title.
