In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, there are plenty of ways for Kassandra or Alexios to make a name for themselves across Ancient Greece. Most of these events can be done by completing the main story, but one way to become a champion while getting closer to becoming the first Mercenary is by battling in the Arena.
The Arena is a great place to fight and win some Legendary items, but it won’t always be an easy place to win every fight. For those who want to test their skills, here are some guidelines and tips on how to become the Arena’s champion.
10 Level Up
The Champions of the Arena range in level from level 22 to level 50. Because of this, it’s really unlikely that players will defeat all the Champions one after another unless they start fighting in the area after they’re already at a high level.
Some of the Champions are part of the Cultists, so there’s no way to finish that part of the main story before fighting in the area. However, if players want to complete as much of the story as they can to reach a higher level first, that’s a fine option. Otherwise, players probably shouldn’t fight the first Champion until they are level 22 or have gear that they’re confident will help them in the fight.
9 Travel To Pephka
Looking at the map, Pephka will be at the very bottom right side. Near the middle of the land mass, there will be a small body of water. Travel to the north of it to find a person names Maion at Warrior’s Rest. Don’t forget to use Ikaros’s Eagle Vision if you need help finding Maion.
Maion will be the start of the “They Just Want Cruelty” quest, and he will have a short conversation with the player about the Arena before revealing where it is. He’ll offer his boat to the player so they can get to the Arena. Follow Maion’s directions to get there.
8 Talk To Skoura
When players first arrive at the Arena, there will be a man by the entrance named Skoura. He’ll become a familiar face to players, as he’s the one they must talk to when they want to fight a Champion. When players first talk to him, he’ll explain the Arena to them a bit more, and players can ask a few questions.
After hearing about how the fights work, players will be able to choose which Champion they want to fight by talking to Skoura. The Champions will already be listed in order from lowest to highest level.
7 Defeat Klaudios, The King Of Bandits
At level 22, Klaudios isn’t too difficult. The fight starts with 4 different waves of enemies coming out to fight. There will always be 3 enemies in each wave, but some will be bigger opponents, as well as a few enemies that use poison attacks.
After the regular enemies are dealt with, Klaudios arrives. He can use poison attacks, but his main special attack is that he’ll use a smoke bomb. Players won’t be able to see him for a few seconds as he tries to sneak up on them, so stay alert. When he glows, he’ll also try to hit players with a slide attack, but those are fairly easy to dodge.
6 Defeat Belos, The Beast Of Sparta
Belos is a powerful foe at level 29, so it’s best to not try and fight him if players are under-leveled. Players will fight 4 waves of enemies again, but these waves will bring out 4 to 5 enemies. They’ll use a variety of weapons from spears, shields, and swords while some brutes enter too.
After fighting those enemies, Belos enters and players will immediately notice his large shield. That means if players want to do any damage to him, they should get rid of the shield first. Players also have to watch out for attacks where Belos turns red, as these attacks can’t be stopped. This leads to a lot of dodging in this fight, so it might be a long battle but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
5 Defeat Evanthe, The Huntress
The first 4 waves of Evanthe’s fight at level 36 will contain a mix of animal and human enemies, but there are only 3 to 4 enemies per wave. It’s not too difficult and it’s usually easiest to defeat the animals first.
When Evanthe appears on the 5th wave, she has a lion with her. Similar to the waves before her, it’s a good idea to defeat the lion first. Evanthe is a powerful enemy with her spear that can catch fire and her bow and fire arrows. She does use a few unblockable moves where she’ll glow red, so between these attacks and the fire arrows, it’s best to dodge and try to shoot arrows back at her behind barriers.
4 Defeat Titos, The Rock Of Athens
Each wave in this fight includes 5 enemies, and many of them will be tough brutes and smaller enemies with shields and spears. While this is already a somewhat difficult challenge, the area around will also contain 3 different fire traps and spike traps, so players be cautious.
The main thing that players need to look out for with Titos is the fire bombs that he will occasionally throw at them. Also, if they are far away from him, he might start using his bow and arrows on them. Try to hit him up close so he doesn’t have as many chances to throw fire bombs, and use whatever abilities you have to get rid of his shield as quickly as possible.
3 Defeat Vasilis, The King Of The Arena
The final Champion, Vasilis, can be fought at level 50. This Arena has spike traps as well as a large pit that players can fall in if they’re not careful. The waves of enemies combine many of the different types of fighters that players defeated when they fought other Champions.
When players fight Vasilis, he enters with a sword and shield that he can on fire, so players will want to try and dodge him when they can if they want to avoid getting burned. Also like the other Champions, he will turn red and use moves that are unblockable. The worst part of this fight is that players are forced to both dodge and be extremely aggressive with their attacks, because if they give Vasilis any breathing room, he can drink a healing potion, making the fight even longer.
2 Defeat The “Mystery Opponent”
After fighting all 5 Champions, Skoura will tell the player that he’s leaving the arena, but he’s arranged one last mystery fight for them. Since Skoura has left, players will need to talk to a character named Praxis to fight the mystery opponent. Upon entering the Arena, the mystery opponent will be revealed as Skoura himself. Players will have a dialogue with him before the fight to figure out why he’s chosen to do this.
The fight is unavoidable once players are in the Arena, but it’s not very difficult fight. Players shouldn’t have much of a problem fighting him, and when he is defeated, Kassandra or Alexios will say their goodbyes to him before he dies.
1 Speak To Maion At Warrior’s Rest
After defeating Skoura, there will be a short cutscene where Kassandra or Alexios visits Skoura’s grave at Warrior’s Rest and speaks to Maion about his passing. The quest will end after the scene. If players want to get the full Arena Fighter’s Set armor, they’ll have to return to the Arena.
To get the full set, players will have to fight the Champions again, only this time they will all be at level 50. Luckily, the player will already know their tricks, so the fights shouldn’t be too different. Whether players get the armor or not, after this point, they’re officially the Hero of the Arena.
