Upon completing Military Rank 55, players will earn their first Prestige in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This accomplishment will award fans a special sticker and emblem as well as a Prestige Key that is to give players access to new Prestige Icons. However, some fans may be slightly confused about how to use Prestige Keys in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and this guide is here to offer some clarity.
To get right to it, Prestige Keys are to be used at the Prestige Shop, but that shop is not open at the time of writing. Indeed, the Prestige Shop is set to go live on December 10, when CoD: Black Ops Cold War Season One begins, and players will need to hold onto their Prestige Keys until then. While this may be slightly disappointing to those fans that are very excited to unlock even more Prestige Icons, at least it is possible to collect quite a number of Keys before the shop is available.
With respect to how that is done, a Prestige Key is awarded every time a player earns 50 levels in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s seasonal progression system. This system is unlocked alongside a fan’s first Prestige, and players can look forward to receiving keys at Season Levels 50, 100, and beyond. Notably, fans can continue to earn Prestige Keys every fiftieth level in this new FPS even if they have already hit maximum Prestige for a season.
For those players that may be curious about exactly what will be in the Prestige Shop when it opens, Legacy Prestige Icons appear to be the real prize. These Legacy Prestige Icons have appeared in previous Black Ops games, though it is important to note that only players that reach Prestige Master will be able to equip them. In Season One, Prestige Master is awarded at Season Level 200, which means that fans will need to do some grinding before they can show off these icons.
CoD: Black Ops Cold War‘s Prestige system serves as a nice counterpoint to the continually resetting Season Levels that it works alongside. Being able to make consistent progress through the Prestige Levels is something that many fans are sure to enjoy, and Prestige Keys will act as a nice reward. While it is true that these Prestige Keys cannot be used right now, players only need to wait approximately three weeks before they can turn them into Icons.
