The Order Falls to the Netflix Season 2 Curse | Game Rant

Netflix has a reputation for killing shows after a mere two seasons. The exact reasons why have been discussed in detail, but in short there is a formula for what is worth renewing, and very few shows bring in subscribers past the two season mark. While there are a few exceptions, it’s hard to get over that two season bar unless your name is Stranger Things. The latest victim of the 2 season curse is The Order, which Netflix has decided not to renew for a third season.

Creator and writer Dennis Heaton took to Twitter to reveal the unfortunate news, writing: “For two seasons I was honored to work with an incredible cast and crew on The Order for @netflix. It is one of the best experiences of my career. Unfortunately, we aren’t returning, but I will always cherish the memories and the props I stole. Thank you all for watching.” The Order premiered in 2019 and was a horror-drama about a secret society and involved family secrets, dark magic, and werewolves.

While fans will likely not get to see a third season for themselves, Heaton did drop a few teases of what might have been. Another tweet had him spoil what would have been a major moment in the next season: “PS – Jack was totally going to raise Alyssa from the dead, but she was going to come back wrong. Like, Pet Sematary wrong. Probably possessed by Zecchia. And a whole bunch of other corpses were coming back with her.” It seems as though there was a lot of interesting material to come out of another season, and it’s a shame that fans won’t get to witness those plot events for themselves. At the very least, they know where it was headed before the show got the axe.

For those who are interested in seeing what the show was, it will still be available on Netflix for the foreseeable future. Existing fans can only hold out hope that the show will be picked up by someone else, or perhaps they could campaign for a last-minute reprieve from Netflix. Unfortunately such movements have a poor track record of success, but it’s always possible.

The Order is currently available on Netflix.
