Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Players Aren’t Happy About Objective Points

Now that the newest Call of Duty game is out, one of the biggest gameplay changes in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War overhauls the scorestreak system by not resetting a player’s scorestreak upon death. However, as demonstrated by some players, playing the objective in a Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War objective-based mode offers very little score, making it more difficult.

In a Reddit post published by user Prince_Odo, they post a screenshot of their game after winning a match of Hardpoint. According to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player, they “singlehandedly” won the Hardpoint match for their team but were completely overshadowed by the “TDM lovers.” The leaderboard shows their time on the objective, which is much higher than anyone else’s. Ultimately, the player is attempting to highlight a problem and ask for a solution or patch in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Upon closer examination, Prince_Odo has an objective time of 236 with 16 deaths and 19 kills, nine of them being objective kills. Judging by the objective time, it seems fair to say the player won the Black Ops Cold War match almost by themselves, but the match’s scoreboard does not reflect that.

Instead, those who got more kills and went on higher killstreaks were placed further on top, despite it showing that they barely contributed to the match’s objective. Additionally, most players on Prince_Odo’s team had over 4,000 points in “damage dealt,” which essentially helped them get a higher overall score in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

As a result, the player asks Treyarch to increase the amount of points earned for playing the objective in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Since objective-based game modes are all about this, playing them like Team Deathmatch is one way to ensure that a team potentially loses the match. Unless a player is focusing on getting as many kills as possible and is trying to increase the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War win/loss ratio, playing objective-based game modes may not necessarily, as they’d likely be better off playing Team Deathmatch.

The objective score issue joins a list of other issues that players are asking Treyarch to address. For example, the skill-based matchmaking system in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is allegedly so intense that even pro players want something to be done about it. There are also other small issues, but for now it seems that many players want big gameplay issues to be dealt with first.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
