The PS5 launch is live in many countries, fully ushering in the next era of consoles. Along with the latest PlayStation is the PS5 DualSense controller, and players are finding more and more features included in the tech.
The Sony PS5 is currently available in the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. The new video game console is set to launch in the rest of the world on November 19, which is likely to spawn even more PS5 controller memes.
For those who do have access to the console, the latest discovery about the DualSense controller is its ability to quickly and conveniently shut off all audio. This feature can come in handy when players need to hear or speak to someone, or listen for things like alarms or doorbells.
Players can choose to mute everything simply by holding down the microphone mute button. Located below the PlayStation button, the mic mute button will pulse orange if players have done it correctly. Once the mute isn’t needed anymore, sound can immediately return with another click. PS5 owners are continuing to discover these features as its worldwide release continues. However, not all of what they’re finding is good, as some players are reporting that their PS5 DualSense controllers aren’t charging properly.
The audio toggle feature is a logical addition to the PS5 because of Sony’s new, immersive 3D audio technology. New titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are already utilizing this ‘game-changing’ evolution in game sound. The PS5 controller adds the mute button to a list of other new features, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.
The DualSense continues to seemingly impress the gaming community at large, thanks to such features it has over Microsoft’s Xbox Series X controller. For players who are still waiting to get their hands on a PS5 but want to try its controller, players have found that the DualSense can be used on PC.
The biggest issue with the next-gen consoles is that it’s nearly impossible to find either a PS5 or Xbox Series X. Bots have reportedly plagued online orders, with the heads of both console developers publicly apologizing for shortages. As some are unable to secure the consoles in time for the holiday season, the situation is leaving many feeling frustrated. Those desperate to know what the new console is like can play PS5 Simulator, a game that lets players pretend they have a PS5.
The PS5 is available now.
