Assassin’s Creed offers fans of the series a unique character with Shay Cormac. Shay started out as an assassin, but betrayed them after a mission gone wrong in Portugal. Shay defected to the Templar Order and started to hunt down his former friends. This makes Shay one of the more unique characters in the series, having Templar and Assassin targets that he had to hunt down.
Rogue allows players to see the downfall of the Colonial Brotherhood. As if that were not enough, players are able to take part in destroying the once powerful faction. Get ready to don Shay’s Templar armor and hunt some Assassins.
10 Lawrence Washington
Lawrence Washington is the half-brother of President George Washington and the first target of Shay. The Assassin goes to Mount Vernon to assassinate Lawrence. Along the way, Shay gets an air rifle and arrives unnoticed at the estate.
Lawrence begins to walk the grounds, giving Shay the perfect chance to kill him. A dying Lawrence thanks Shay for giving him a quick death. This causes Shay to have displeasure in killing an already dying man.
9 Samuel Smith
Samuel Smith is chased by the Assassins as he sails towards a camp. Smith leads the Assassins into a trap, but the Morrigan sinks all of the ships. Smith tries one more trick by using burning oil on the water, but the Assassins stay right behind him.
Shay follows Smith into the camp, with Smith trying to persuade the Assassin to spare his life. Shay attacks the defenseless man, who in his death says that the victory is a hollow one.
8 James Wardrop
After the death of Lawrence Washington, James Wardrop was put in charge of the Templars in the colonies. Wardrop was at the Albany Congress, but was fearful after the death of Samuel Smith. He sends for a captain to get a manuscript, who Shay assassinates and sneaks into the fort Wardrop is hiding in.
Shay assassinates Wardrop from above, getting the manuscript for himself. Wardrop in his dying breath says the Templars maintained control and is the only thing keeping the colonies from descending into chaos.
7 Le Chasseur
Le Chasseur is the first Assassin that Shay has to kill. He can be found at Fort La Croix when it comes under attack by enemies. Shay bursts into the fort’s war room, finding his former friend. Le Chasseur pretends he does not know Shay is a Templar before challenging him to a sword fight.
Shay tries to convince Le Chasseur to call off the battle, but the Assassin says he’ll have to report Shay’s survival. Shay bests Le Chasseur, who reveals poisonous gasses are still on the way to New York City.
6 Kesegowaase
Kesegowaase attacks Albany after the Assassins find out that Shay is alive. Shay is made a target of the brotherhood, and Shay arrives at Fort Frederick in time to defend it from the Assassins. Kesegowaase is used to distract Shay so that another Assassin can steal the manuscript from the Morrigan.
Shay mortally wounds Kesegowaase, who tells Shay he is too late to rescue the manuscript. Shay realizes the now dead Assassin was right, meaning the Templars had lost the manuscript.
5 Adéwalé
Adéwalé is probably most memorable for being the quartermaster of Edward Kenway’s ship in Black Flag. In Rogue, the Assassin came to America and became part of the Colonial Brotherhood. Adéwalé was bested by Shay during a ship battle and was forced to beach his ship.
With Shay was Edward Kenway’s son, Haytham. Haytham distracted Adéwalé by having a verbal exchange. This gave Shay enough time to sneak up to Adéwalé, assassinating him. Before dying, Adéwalé expressed regret at how far Shay had fallen. Shay lamented about the fact, saying it was most likely true.
4 Hope Jensen
The British Army attacks Hope Jensen’s mansion with the intent of destroying the New York City gang’s influence. Shay was spying on Hope through a skylight, which Hope shoots. Shay falls to the ground and Hope pulls a lever that fills the room with poison.
Shay survives the attack, chasing Hope over the rooftops of New York. After getting close, Shay is able to stab Hope and injure her. In her last words, she says she regrets Shay’s wasted potential.
3 Louis-Joseph Gaultier
Louis-Joseph Gaultier is killed during the Assassin Expedition to a precursor site. Gaultier stayed behind the Assassin fleet to make sure Shay did not chase them. When Shay destroyed the defending fleet, Gaultier’s ship came out to attack. Shay’s ship was able to disable Gaultier’s and Shay’s crew boarded the other.
Shay gets the best of Gaultier, mortally injuring the Assassin. Shay realizes that the other Assassins were already at the precursor site, enraging the Templar. Shay takes Gaultier and throws him overboard.
2 Liam O’Brien
Liam O’Brien is the former best friend of Shay Cormac. In the precursor site, Liam accidentally falls into the artifact and causes seismic activity to occur. Liam runs from the temple only to be chased by Shay. Throughout the chase, it seems that Shay does not want to kill his former best friend.
Both get to the edge of a cliff, but seismic activity makes the cliff collapse. Shay falls on Liam, mortally wounding the Assassin. As Liam dies, he pulls off the manuscript and hands it to Shay. Shay pulls Liam’s hood over his head as a sign of respect and starts to mourn his former friend.
1 Charles Dorian
Charles is the father of Arno who is seen to have been killed at the beginning of Unity. By playing through Rogue, players are able to learn that it is Shay that killed Arno’s father. Charles is on the search for Arno when he is stabbed by Shay. Before dying, Charles says that the Templars have lost all power in the new world. Shay hints that the Templars could start another revolution, hinting at the French Revolution that takes place in Unity.
