Assassin’s Creed Valhalla tries to promote exploration at every turn, as players will find themselves getting distracted hunting down the seemingly endless reserves of wealth, mysteries, and artifacts scattered throughout England. Despite this, the game sometimes gets in its own way, showing players markers for wealth that are impossible to get at the time.
Certain treasures in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are locked behind story progression, meaning players won’t be able to get them until they are taking on a certain quest. The wealth found in Lunden’s Temple of Mithras is one such example, as many players are finding themselves struggling to get it because they’re trying too early.
Players experienced similar frustrations trying to get through the barred door in Offchurch, something that can’t be done until the player is completing the Tilting the Balance quest. Likewise, players will need to just ignore this piece of wealth until they start the quest titled Wall and Shadows.
Getting the Wall and Shadows quest started is a bit of a process in and of itself, as it is tied to both Eivor’s efforts in forming alliances and Hythim’s goal of eliminating the Order of the Ancients. In order to start this quest, players need to build the Hidden Ones’ Bureau in Ravensthorpe, collect medallions from Zealots, and then get the Wall and Shadows quest by pledging to Lunden. All of this should eventually result in the player being directed towards Lunden and needing to enter the Temple of Mithras as part of that quest.
If the player tries to find this treasure in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s Lunden before accepting this quest, the path leading to the wealth will be blocked by roots and rocks. These can’t be broken or bypassed in any way, meaning the player has no other option than to wait until completing this quest. With the quest active, the path will be free of obstacles and finding the wealth is as simple as just following the quest until Eivor comes across it.
Inside the chest, players will find the Briton Shield. With this item equipped, Eivor will heal a little bit with every successful parry. Given how difficult it is to come by healing in the middle of a fight in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, having access to this ability can be a huge help. Aside from this, players can upgrade rations in Valhalla, but that only goes so far. As such, the Briton shield can make tough fights much more manageable.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
