IO Interactive, the studio best known for its popular Hitman series, has teased its next major project. At the moment, fans don’t have a lot to go off of in terms of what the project will be, but a reveal is scheduled for the morning of November 19th at 6 AM PT. This reveal should showcase what the new project is and hopefully reveal some gameplay elements as well.
Naturally, many fans are expecting to see something relating to the Hitman franchise, but there’s already a game in development there. Hitman 3 is scheduled to release in January of 2021, so it would be odd for IO Interactive to reveal Hitman 4 this early or even a spin off game. Instead, many are getting their hopes up for a new IP from the studio, hoping for it to branch out into new territory.
Aside from this possibility, there’s also some potential for a sequel to Freedom Fighters, a 2003 title which hasn’t received a sequel in 17 years. Due to the age of this game, it’s fallen into obscurity to an extent, but die hard fans are still waiting to see if it can become its own franchise. How likely this is is difficult to say, but members of IO Interactive have commented before saying they’re interested in a Freedom Fighters sequel.
Thankfully, players won’t have to wait long to get some concrete answers, as the reveal is scheduled for tomorrow. Speculation will no doubt continue until that time, but it won’t be long before fans know if they can expect another Hitman game, a Kane & Lynch sequel, or the long awaited Freedom Fighters 2.
