Though most eyes are on the PS5 this week, Sony quietly rolled out a new firmware for PS4.
Sony has released a second firmware update for one of its consoles this week. After yesterday’s non-descript PS5 update, today we get a new firmware for PS4.
Firmware 8.01 was released about an hour ago, and you won’t be surprised to learn that we don’t actually know what changes it made to the console. The usual “this system software update improves system performance” is the only patch note we have.
Today’s update comes in at the usual 470MB size, too, and should automatically download and install on your console if it was left in Rest Mode. Otherwise, you will be prompted to download it when you next turn on the console.
