Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been out for almost a week and players are finally settling on which guns they deem the best. It took a few days for the meta to stabilize, but several guns seem to be the top picks for many players. Pro Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player Scump is ready to share his go-to loadout for the MP5, and it looks to be a killer.
The MP5 has quickly become one of the main guns used in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The fast rate of fire and solid damage allow players to run and gun as easily as ever. This SMG allows players to overcome most close quarters fights as well as provide covering fire as they move in for the finish. With Scump’s revealed loadout, players can take this gun to new levels in multiplayer.
- Muzzle: Muzzle Break 9
- Barrel: 9”5 Extended
- Body: Steady Aim Laser
- Underbarrel: Foregrip
- Magazine: 40 RND Drum
- Handle: Speed Tape
- Stock: Collapsed Stock
The muzzle and barrel options give this loadout some serious damage. The Muzzle Break 9 gives the MP5 some reduced recoil for more accurate shooting. Players can combine this with the 9”5 Extended barrel, which increases bullet velocity, to be deadly from mid-range. Scump adds the Foregrip to further reduce the MP5’s recoil and turn the SMG into a laser. This is ideal for running and gunning, so slow and steady Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players might not get the most out of this loadout.
The Steady Aim Laser gives an extra 15% to accuracy when firing from the hip. This attachment helps when firing at close enemies in addition to the upgrades to mid-range. The 40 RND Drum is a popular attachment on many guns since it gives players plenty of bullets for taking down multiple enemies. The Drum and Laser both combine well for players who want to hold down the trigger until they take out all of the enemies on the screen. It likely won’t be long before a Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War balance patch releases, so there is no telling what this laser will look like in the future.
Players looking for increased ADS speed—something that seems to be more crucial in this Call of Duty than many of the previous ones—should look at the Speed Tape attachment. This increases ADS speed by 10%, allowing players to look at their opponent slightly faster than their opponent looks at them. Finally, the Collapsed Stock cuts down on the penalty that players receive when trying to fire at the end of a sprint. These two attachments together allow players to play aggressively and constantly run and gun throughout the map.
As with any new Call of Duty game, more guns will be rising to the top over the next few weeks as players figure out intricate builds for each one. The MP5 has been a useful gun in previous entries, so it isn’t surprising that it was one of the first to get showcased in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Players will have to try out different loadouts and see which one they want to try to perfect first.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
