Amazon Listing May Have Leaked Red Dead Redemption Remastered Early

The Game Awards has become a major event over these past couple of years not only for recognizing excellence in the games industry, but as a way for studios to make surprise announcements. Without E3 this year and other traditional big exhibitions having to go virtual, there’s likely an even greater importance on the Game Awards delivering an exciting show. Even with Geoff Keighley and his team doing a great job at minimizing the potential for leaks, it seems one announcement may have escaped a bit earlier than many were hoping.

Over on the Red Dead Redemption subReddit, a new post is making the rounds after a user reveals how they discovered an Amazon listing for a potential Remastered version of the beloved open world action game. After typing Red Dead Redemption Remaster into Google, the listing page appears and displays a December 10 date with a $49.99 price tag. After selecting the link, the user is redirected to a generic Amazon landing page instead.

If the leak is indeed true, Rockstar intends to release the remaster on December 10, which is now the same date as CD Projekt RED’s behemoth, Cyberpunk 2077. The date also coincides with the annual Game Awards show which many have started to would have been used to stealth launch the game following its announcement at the show.

Naturally, fans shouldn’t consider this an official confirmation, even if it is a strange error on Amazon’s part. Evidence appears to be mounting against the rumor as well with the Twitter account Rockstar Intel downplays the significance linking it to Cyberpunk 2077 and the shared December 10 release date. Another Rockstar Games insider, Yann2295 also seems to indicate that this listing is nothing more than a false alarm. While nothing is yet confirmed or denied from Rockstar, fans are hopeful that this is another puzzle piece to go along with the many other potential rumors related to a Red Dead Redemption remaster.

The other big piece to this that continues to give fans hope is the fact that the information seemingly comes from a mistake made by Amazon. The company has been involved in a ton of accidental leaks for unannounced projects over the years, especially in 2020 with the next-gen consoles and games. Box art from various PS5 games leaked out earlier in September, the PC version of Horizon: Zero Dawn appeared early on Amazon France, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla also showed up back in January before Ubisoft officially confirmed the game. With Amazon’s lengthy history of leaking announcements early, fans continue to cling on to hope that this latest one about Red Dead Redemption turns out to be accurate.
