A couple of days ago, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion players reported corrupted save files leading to the loss of player progress in both games. Initially, a good number of complaints are coming from players on the Xbox Series X, but there are still reports of trouble from PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One players.
Shortly after players began reporting corrupted saves in Ubisoft’s official forums for both Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion, community managers reassured fans that the studio is already working on a fix. Now, in a statement to GamesRadar, Ubisoft says that it is “actively working on a fix,” and players should expect to see it “in the coming weeks.” Unfortunately, it appears that Ubisoft’s statement only applies to the issue with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, given that it makes no mention of Watch Dogs Legion.
To those unfamiliar with the issue, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players are coming across an error that will bring them back to the game’s main menu and notify them that one or more saves are “data corrupt!” Unfortunately, the only option given to the player after having encountered this error is to delete the save file, which is a massive disappointment for players who are already far into Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
It is worth noting that this is not the only problem that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players have encountered in the game. Last week, some players reported that they could not trigger the Seer’s Solace Quest, which is one of the introductory missions and is required to progress further into the game. However, it is worth noting that Ubisoft did not address this specific issue in its latest statement, given that it has previously said that a more permanent solution will be released alongside the game’s main update.
At the moment, the status of the corrupted save problem in Watch Dogs Legion is still unknown. However, the lack of a mention of Watch Dogs Legion in Ubisoft’s latest statement could mean that the developers are still trying to identify the cause of the problem. Nonetheless, players should expect to hear more updates on the corrupted saves problem in Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in the coming days and weeks.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
