After launching earlier this month, Assassin’s Creed fans have been running around 873 England and like a true Viking, looting and pillaging the nearby towns, villages, and castles. As Eivor, players can take part in special sieges and raids to not only advance the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla story, but also to secure critical resources to further build out and improve the settlement of Ravensthorpe. Continuing to expand the settlement opens up new opportunities, resources, and quests for the player, making it a critical gameplay mechanic.
However, raiding isn’t always as straightforward as rushing in with allies, overwhelming enemies, and eventually taking control. Some, such as Saint Albanes Abbey have a few hurdles that players need to jump through in order to fully get access to the large amounts of loot waiting behind closed doors. What makes this place especially appealing is that players will find more loot and resources than from most raiding locations. It also has a number of chests that are hidden or may require the player to do something to get to them.
Unfortunately, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players can’t simply rush in to claim it all. Here’s how to completely finish the raid at Saint Albanes Abbey.
Saint Albanes Abbey is a sprawling location in this version of Medieval England that has plenty of opportunities for players to find loot just scattered around the area. Not all doors are unlocked, however, and most of them require the assistance of a clansman. The doors to the main abbey are of course locked and will only open with the correct key.
Thankfully, obtaining the key is fairly straightforward, though it will require a bit of story progression first. Players can earn the key to the abbey as a quest reward when they return to the abbey during the Oxenefordscire story arc.
With the key in hand, players can finally access to the main abbey structure though the doors are barred from the inside to prevent easy access. Thankfully, Eivor, as is true for all of the Assassin’s Creed protagonists, are expert climbers, so players should immediately head to the roof. Aim an arrow at one of the stained glass windows on the upper floor as they’re much bigger than the lower windows to quickly gain access. Enemies will be waiting here so prepare for a battle.
Once the enemies are dealt with, players will come across a breakable wall. While there’s nothing immediately available inside which can help, players should head back outside and grab a large red vase which sets fire to nearby things when hit with an arrow or when thrown. Placing it near the wall and then shooting it with an arrow will take the wall down revealing the abbey’s secrets and big golden chest. Alternatively, players who have already unlocked explosive arrows can use those to a similar effect as well.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
