Rockstar Games Titles We Want on PS5, Xbox Series X | Game Rant

The next console generation is finally here, and many people across the globe have gotten their hands on a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S . Rockstar Games recently announced that its highly-acclaimed games Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto 5 are playable on next-gen consoles via backward compatibility. This is true for disc owners as well, and it’s come as exciting news for those who want to be able to play the games they love on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Rockstar Games has made a lot of fan-favorite games over the years, with RDR2 and GTA5 only being some of the most recently popular games they’ve published. As many people get excited over playing on their new consoles, it is worth turning one’s attention to some other Rockstar Games titles that people would also love to play on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. As a prolific and, in many people’s opinions, high quality video game publisher, there are plenty of games that might be worth bringing over to the next console generation.

The publisher already announced that titles backward compatible one the Xbox One will have the same treatment for the Xbox Series X/S. These games include:

  • Bully: Scholarship Edition
  • Grand Theft Auto 4
  • Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  • Midnight Club: Los Angeles
  • Red Dead Redemption
  • Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis

PS4 backward compatible games will be getting the same treatment with the PS5, including the following games:

  • Bully
  • Grand Theft Auto 3
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  • Manhunt
  • Max Payne
  • Red Dead Revolver
  • The Warriors

This still leaves some games that players have enjoyed over the years that some may be disappointed to see aren’t already getting a PS5 port. Here are some of Rockstar Games’ most memorable games that have potential in being brought over to the PS5.

Although the arcade-style racing video game genre has come a long way since Midnight Club: Street Racing released in 2000, the entire franchise holds a lot of nostalgia for many people. Only the most recent installment in the series, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, is getting confirmed PS5 backward compatibility, and many people may want to be able to race in different locations on next-gen consoles. One of the draws of the Midnight Club series is that players can race in a variety of places like New York City or London, and Midnight Club 3 features San Diego, Atlanta, and Detroit. However, Midnight Club 2 and even the original 2000 game may also intrigue people, especially as a comparison to newer racing games to see how much the genre has changed.

The original Manhunt is on the list of backward compatible games, so why not its sequel? The Manhunt series’ psychological and survival horror elements forced the player to brutally execute targets in stealthy ways, while also having to deal with backstabbing “allies.” Not only that, but some players are calling for an official remaster of the Manhunt games, which has seen unofficial modding remasters over the years. The Manhunt games are known for being particularly gory, which is certainly a preference some players have in regards to gaming.

This is another nostalgia entry, and one that just goes to show how far the graphics have improved in later games. While now, most players enjoy spending time on GTA Online or in the ever-popular Grand Theft Auto 5, many people who’ve taken the time to go back and look at older games like Grand Theft Auto 2 find themselves having a surprisingly fun time. Sure, people who played the game when it came out weren’t playing on machines that can handle the same graphical complexities as the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but many people who may want to play GTA 2 now don’t have access to older consoles like the PS1.

The first game in this intense trilogy is already PS5-compatible, but many people would love to see its two sequels make their way to next-gen consoles. It’s been nearly two decades since Max Payne came out, so including some of the more recent games could be a good move on Rockstar Games’ part. Not many AAA games provide a third person shooter with a neo noir flavor, and the hype surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 and its futuristic take on the neo-noir genre shows that it’s something people enjoy playing. Some fans are still hopeful for a Max Payne 4, which is proof that there are still plenty of people who would enjoy playing the entire trilogy on the PS5 and possibly also the Xbox Series X/S.

While Rockstar Games is mostly known for its periodic huge hits like the Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto games, there are a ton of games that people are nostalgic about. Rockstar Games might benefit from looking into which of the older games in its catalogue are titles that people would love to see on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.
