Since joining WWE back in 1990, The Undertaker has become one of its most recognizable and popular wrestlers. After a career lasting over 30 years, The Undertaker will be retiring at the upcoming Survivor Series, but there’s one opponent he’s yet to best, one who’ll get him out of retirement for one last great match: British broadcaster and one time America’s Got Talent host, Piers Morgan.
Talking via a video call on British morning show, the appropriately titled Good Morning Britain, The Undertaker (Mark William Calaway to his friends and family) suggested that if Piers ‘The Morganator’ Morgan wanted to get into the ring then he could be convinced to make a return. Calaway also added that Morgan was ‘big time over on American TV with his strong English accent’ but the ratings for Morgan’s CNN show would say otherwise.
The Undertaker’s upcoming final match at Survivor Series also marks the 30th anniversary of his debut at WWE. Coming after a brief spell with WCW, Calaway first performed as Kane the Undertaker soon adopting the macabre persona that made him a legend of the era. Over the years his gimmick changed from Halloween costume to hardcore biker during WWE’s pivotal Attitude era before returning to the supernatural persona he made his name with.
The Undertaker would go on to win and lose the world heavyweight championship several times but the biggest upset to his career was the end of 21 straight WrestleMania wins when he was defeated at WrestleMania XXX by Brock Lesnar. Earlier this year, his retirement was hinted at in the WWE original documentary The Last Ride.
Though The Undertaker never managed to transfer to film like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson or Dave ‘Batista’ Bautista has, maybe after the proposed Morgan match a career in hosting a morning show could be on the cards. Something for him to consider there.
