Joe Manganiello is one of the many returning faces for Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League. In the original theatrical cut the actor played Deathstroke in a post-credits scene that implied he would helping Lex Luthor form a squad of villains to oppose The Justice League. It has been reported for some time that Manganiello would be returning for re-shoots that will add to the nearly 4-hour runtime of the HBO Max version of the project, and lately the actor himself has posted an image of himself in costume yet again.
The image, which shows a new black and white image of Manganiello’s Deathstroke sporting a mohawk, was posted to the actor’s Twitter page as part of a call for donations to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It was captioned “Heroes & Villains can put their differences aside for an important cause…” and Zack Snyder was tagged in the tweet along with #UsUnited and #AFSP.
The included link redirects to the Autumn Snyder Tribute Fund, a personal campaign set up and sponsored by Snyder and his family. It was during the filming of Justice League that Autumn Snyder tragically committed suicide, leading her father Zack Snyder to leave the project in order to grieve and heal alongside his family. This tribute fund is dedicated to her memory, and has currently raised over $25,000 of its $50,000 goal, with all the money going to the AFSP, which funds research, advocacy, and support for families and victims of suicide.
While nothing can replace the loss of a loved one, there is at least the hope that the money raised can go to help others who have suffered similar losses. It is a touching gesture from Manganiello to support Snyder and the AFSP using his involvement in the Snyder Cut as a megaphone from which to encourage donations. Jason Momoa also took to Instagram to support the fund as well, putting into words the true significance of the moment: “Today, more than ever, recognizing and destigmatizing conversations surrounding mental health, suicide awareness and prevention is crucial. We are honored by the amazing way Autumn’s legacy has inspired so many to dedicate their efforts and resources to helping others when they need it.”
The Autumn Snyder Memorial Tribute Fund is currently open and taking donations.
