Fan Reveals Incredible Custom PS5 Design | Game Rant

There are not a lot of options when it comes to the look of the PlayStation 5. In fact, there’s just one: white. That is why artists have taken to creating their own custom PlayStation 5 designs, such as one fan whose design takes inspiration from Sony’s lineup of exclusive titles.

If there’s one thing the stark white of the console has going for it, it’s that it works well as a blank canvas. Twitter user @Oskunk, a self-described “French Pop Artist,” created a custom design that features a handful of Sony icons. God of War, Days Gone, The Last of Us 2, and Spider-Man are all represented next to colorful PlayStation button symbols. They even made time to add some flair to the DualSense controller as well.

The fact artists like Oskunk are doing the custom work themselves shows that there is demand for more options — at the very least different colors for the PS5. Sony has confirmed that the faceplates on the console are removable, suggesting the company intends on rolling out new designs for purchase in the future. One third-party company discovered this early on and began selling their own, but Sony promptly demanded they shut down operations. To counter this, the PS5 faceplate company rebranded to continue making them, but the legal troubles continued from there.

Outside of aesthetic issues, the inner workings of the console are also causing frustration. This can happen with new consoles, but it is not ideal for those who were lucky enough to get one during the first wave of sales. There are several known PS5 launch problems, but Sony is doing its best to remedy them now while working on others. However, when some consoles are being bricked, the people at Sony have their work cut out for them.

There are some successes already, though. The company recently explained how to fix the PS5 download queue bug, which prevented some games from being fully downloaded. But there are still plenty of kinks to work out before the PS5 can be used without worry. Not getting a console on launch day may have been a blessing in disguise.

For those who were not able to get the next-gen console when it released, but are still in the market for one, there will be more opportunities in the future. In fact, the holidays may be the right time to potentially snag a console and also find discounts on its games. The PlayStation Black Friday sale, for example, is offering several discounts on both PS4 and PS5 games. Shoppers won’t have to wait until after Thanksgiving to take advantage of this either. The sale is running from now until November 30.
