Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – Best Settings | Game Rant

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is an extremely competitive game, and not only due to the controversial use of skill-based matchmaking. As such, players in need of a bit of a boost to their skill should dive into the game’s settings, as a few major tweaks could have a massive impact on multiplayer gameplay.

Compiled by YouTuber WhosImmortal, the best Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War settings should see players tweaking their sensitivity, field of view, and other aspects of the game’s settings. With this done, players should have more of a fighting chance when going up against experienced players in Black Ops Cold War. First and foremost, like other Call of Duty titles, adjustments to sensitivity should be made.

WhosImmortal goes with higher horizontal and vertical sensitivities, saying that this adjustment helps due to the game “being boots on the ground.” Adjustments are made to ADS sensitivity as well, with the YouTuber recommending slight changes so that it is “easier to stay on target.” These are the only controller settings that are altered, with gameplay settings seeing aim assist left on and “apply all” being chosen for armor behavior. While not quite the Call of Duty League settings, these should work well for the average player.

  • Horizontal Sensitivity: 9
  • Vertical Sensitivity: 8
  • ADS Sensitivity (low zoom): .9
  • ADS Sensitivity (high zoom): .8
  • Aim Assist: On
  • Armor Behavior: Apply All

Next up, the advanced settings are detailed, with important tweaks made that should help players improve their performance and Prestige in Black Ops Cold War faster. Perhaps the biggest change here is lowering the left and right stick thresholds, as this change greatly improves accuracy by making player aim tighter. Features like auto sprint are disabled, with interact/reload behavior being set to “tap to reload.” Whosimmortal also stresses turning off “sprint cancels reload,” as it apparently triggers too often.

  • Left Stick Threshold: 5
  • Right Stick Threshold: 5
  • Auto Sprint: Disabled
  • Sprint Cancels Reload: Disabled
  • Interact/Reload Behavior: Tap To Reload

The final important changes to make are to Black Ops Cold War’s field of view slider, which should be set to “the sweet spot” of 100 to 111. While WhosImmortal personally plays at 111, anything in that range should benefit players and prove useful. He also prefers setting the ADS field of view to independent, which keeps the zoom with aiming intact despite the increased field of view. Lastly, the YouTuber implores players to disable motion blur. With FOV being one of the most influential features on gameplay, players should spend time exploring this section to find out what works best for them.

  • Field Of View: Between 100 and 111
  • ADS Field Of View: Independent
  • Motion Blur: Disabled

The rest of the settings all seem to be personal preference, with health bars and volume settings being up to each player. With these settings also carrying over to Black Ops Cold War Zombies, however, players should see a major difference in performance after the new settings are applied.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
