Demon’s Souls on the PS5 maintains the core identity of the original game, including its brutal difficulty. One of the key mechanics involves players reverting to a Soul Form after they die, which changes the mechanics in a few ways, most notably lowering health to 50% of what it normally is. There are a few ways to regain lost health in Demon’s Souls, though one of the most straight-forward is using a Stone of Ephemeral Eyes.
The problem is that Stones of Ephemeral Eyes aren’t all that easy to find out in the world. They’re a one-time use item and pretty valuable, so players will want to carefully manage their stock as they progress through each world of Demon’s Souls. It’s also important to note that this isn’t the only way to return to Human Form in Demon’s Souls, though the others are a bit more difficult.
There is, however, a consistent vendor to buy Stones of Ephemeral Eyes from, which doesn’t involve scouring the world, saving players time. However, it can take some effort to get there, and much like the rest of Demon’s Souls, that will be a challenge in and of itself.
The most straightforward option is to simply buy the Stone of Ephemeral Eyes from the Filthy Woman vendor in the Valley of Defilement. It isn’t the most welcoming area that the game has to offer, which says a lot considering it’s a Souls game, but it will allow players to return to Human form. The vendor is located near the Giant Depraved Ones in 5-2, though there are some asterisks about the availability of Stones of Ephemeral Eyes to keep in mind.
- They can only be purchased while in Soul Form.
- They can only be purchased one at a time.
- The price will vary depending on a player’s Soul Level.
One thing to keep in mind is that using the Stone of Ephemeral Eyes isn’t always a great idea, in fact, it usually isn’t. Dying in Human Form lowers World Tendency, which becomes an increasingly important mechanic as time presses on, and being in Human Form opens the door for other players to invade a game. Being a Souls game, players are going to die a lot, so it’s something that should be done sparingly, at most.
Rather, it’s a good idea to find a Cling Ring, which lets players keep 75% of their health in Soul Form. It can be found early on, and solves many of the problems that players may encounter along the way. It isn’t strictly necessary, but is worth picking up just in case.
Demon’s Souls is available now for PS5.
