Destiny 2’s Lament Exotic Sword Quest is Live; Here’s How to Get It

It’s been a busy weekend for Destiny 2 players as the new Deep Stone Crypt raid finally opened its doors pitting all kinds of fireteams against one another in a race to see who could complete it first. After many hours, the Deep Stone Crypt raid event finally came to a close with Team Luminous looking to have achieved the title of World First. While not everyone participated in the event, finishing the raid has caused new content to be released into the game for all players.

The move is reminiscent of the Last Wish raid, which launched inside of the Forsaken expansion and kicked of a three week curse cycle in the Dreaming City, which not only changed enemies found there but certain quests as well. With Beyond Light, new areas of the Europan map have opened as well as a new exotic quest for the unique chainsaw sword, The Lament.

The quest itself is fairly lengthy, featuring 11 steps that task players with finishing a wide range of activities from defeating certain enemy types, exploring new parts of the map, to finishing various quests as well. Here’s how Destiny 2 players can finish each step and acquire the Lament heavy sword.

While players may have found Exo bodies in various places on Europa since launch, they can now be interacted with to hear some lore as well as working towards Triumph progress. For the first step in this quest, players only need to find and trigger three exo bodies out of the nine in total. However, players may want to hunt down all nine eventually as it goes towards unlocking the Splintered title for the Beyond Light seal.

The easiest one to find is on a large snowbank in Cadmus Ridge closer to the entry point from Charon’s Crossing. Each lost sector also holds one Exo and there’s an easy one to grab near the entrance to Bray Exoscience in the rooms to the right side.

Following the finish of the Deep Stone Crypt, the Creation wing of Bray Exoscience opened up. Using stasis to break the barrier, players can navigate through these series of rooms which will eventually lead to a massive Exo Head which houses the AI of Clovis Bray. Track the quest to place a marker on the screen to follow. Once at the massive head, players will need to interact with it twice in order for the quest step to complete.

The first combat oriented step has players hunting down Vex with swords. In total, players will need to defeat 100 Vex and 20 Minotaur, Hydra, and Cyclops with swords on Europa. Thankfully, there are plenty of locations that feature these enemies especially on the East side of the destination in places like Asterion Abyss and Well of Infinitude.

After that, players will then need to beat the newly added Exo Challenges. While these new activities were leaked earlier, players will need to pick one of the three to run. Safeguard is similar to a horde mode where players try to defend as long as possible against continuous waves of Vex. Survival takes those mechanics and throws in a worsening winter storm. Agility is more platform based by tasking players with continuing to move up platforms while fighting off the Vex.

The final phase of this quest requires that players use finishers on 60 Vex enemies. Performing them on more powerful enemies, such as those with yellow health bars, will help fill this faster.

Next, players will need to enter The Glassway strike. Similar to the special version of the Warden of Nothing strike for the Truth exotic rocket launcher, players will need to find special blade pieces located there.

With the pieces found, players then need to head back to the Tower and speak to Banshee-44.

Banshee will then send players to the Eventide Ruins on Europa to explore an abandoned bunker found there. Once deep enough inside the bunker, the quest will move to the final big step.

The next step in this quest chain is to complete a special mission called Reforging the Past. Essentially, players will need to save the Giant Clovis Bray Exo from being destroyed by enemies.

With that mission finally complete, all players need to do is to head to Banshee to claim the truly unique looking sword.

With Lament in hand, the sword can be revved up like a chainsaw by holding the attack button down. This not only bypasses enemy shields and increases sword damage, but it also shield piercing to all attacks for a short time. Revved attacks also stack buffs which continue to increase damage dealt and damage resistance. The Revved Consumption perk also heals the wielder for simply damaging an enemy with the sword.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
